<snip>The Florida chapter of the Alliance of Retired Americans had 25 busloads of seniors headed for the anti-FTAA rally, but only 12 got in. Some seniors were forced to disembark at other points too far away for them to walk to the rally.

“They went kind of ballistic on us and did not allow all our buses to get in,” said Tony Fransetta, president of the Florida ARA (FLARA) and a UAW Local 1250 retiree.

“For those who got into the stadium, the police were like Robo Cop, running around in full riot gear with their hands on their weapons for no apparent reason.”

Outside the stadium, Fransetta reports that some seniors were tear-gassed and a woman was shot in the chest with a rubber bullet. At least two FLARA members were arrested.
