The Iran Hostage Crisis of 1980.
There seems to be a conspiracy theory about this crisis. President Carter was trying to negotiate for the release of these hostages. Appearently some sources believe that individuals close to Reagan/Bush maybe even Bush himself kept the hostages imprisoned until the new administration was elected and they could give them a better deal. Interesting. If you want to read it in detail go to everything2.com and type in the search box "October Surprise". This is only a conspiracy theory. It is not terribly substantiated. Let me know what you think.

2. Reagan said
Reagan said: We were trying to get Iran to release the hostages as soon as possible.

Which means his associates were negotiating with the Iranians in 1980, while Jimmy Carter was President.

4. duhhhh I have his book from, like ten years ago
Robert Parry is only the guy who outed Ollie North, who blew the lid off Iran/Contra, losing jobs at Newsweek and UPI or AP (can't remember which.....top of head here). some guys in Florida newspaper won pulitzer (Miami Herald?) on back of his work (after he lost jobs for refusing to stop reporting the story)

His book was ridiculed at time of release; still is, but has been largely confirmed by subsequent info dumps from former USSR, France and Isreal.

it's only been unsubstantiated by the handmaidens who didn't bring you Iran/Contra, AWOL, Harkengate, and MYRIAD squared stories about the past/present republican juntas, from Reagan to both Bosches.

6. oh, yes......forgot. well respected, but SELF FUNDED journalist,
cause, like Greg Palast, he can't GET WORK here.

he doesn't go to the parties, play the game, like the fools and buffoons who disgrace our TV sets and our bannerlines.

what a joke on us

I have NEVER seen Parry once on commercial/public-regular or cable tv.

ONE time on CSPAN, at a book signing. that's it.

they won't have him.......no time for him.....gotta have Bill Sammon on, telling us how Gore stole the election, or David Horowitz letting us know how the international communist conspiracy, currently led by one Howard Dean, D., Ulan Bator, is fixing to weaken our precious bodily fluids, destroy our economy, and render us helpless against the onlsaught headed our way, up the Pan American Highway from Venezoola.

5. I was just about to post the same link. Here are some more resources:
A recent DU thread on the possibility of sabotage involved in Jimmy Carter's failed rescue bid has lots of terrific info on October Surprise:
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=104&topic_id=629531&mesg_id=629531

"The October Surprise and the World It Made" by the great Chris Floyd, http://www.counterpunch.org/floyd0909.html

Some good books which cover it:
Robert Parry, Trick or Treason
Gary Slick, October Surprise
Barbara Honegger, October Surprise
Rodney Stitch, Defrauding America

October Surprise has an impressive body count. It's quite the "theory."

8. I think J Edgar Hoover said it best:
"The individual is handicapped by coming face to face with a conspiracy so monstrous he cannot believe it exists."

9. said individ being mugged into this situation, of course, by a complicit
MEDIA, marching in lockstep to every piece of scrofula emitted by the government PR machine.....unless, of course, it emanated from WJC.

it never fails to boggle the mind what would have happened to RR, GWHB, and his brain-damaged little spawn had the media exerted one gaZILLIONth the effort on doping out Iran/Contra, IraqGate, or any of the INNUMERABLE scandals festering under the current oaf of office.

they'd ALL be keeping their mudflaps up today, ringaling with the likes of North, Poindexter, Cap, Fiers, Reich, Negroponte, George, Abrams, Meese, Schultz, (yes Powell.....huge perjurer during I/C, nogt to mention recently, before congress), little Condi, Rumdum, Wolfo, Feith.....list goes on endlessly, pretty much.
