Bush hurts troops with lack of oversight Halliburton and other contractors
Should we argue that Bush is hurting the troops with lack of oversight for Halliburton and other contractors?

US soldiers are being fed rotten food which the taxpayers pay Halliburton $28 per soldier per day for. In Baghdad, there are gas shortages and the traffic lights are off, which may contribute to resentment against the US, including our soldiers.

1. Wait a second
I thought the Republicans were the party of the sensible adults, not the party of drunken sailors.

Seriously that's the chink in President Bush's Armor (well one of money) the idea that he and the Republicans are good stewards and we Democrats are dopes, but clearly that's not entirely true.

3. The Senate voted to make war profiteering a crime, but
The Senate voted to make war profiteering a crime, but the House didn't, and the amendment was dropped in Conference Committee.

Ideally, this would have caused Senators to vote against the bill.

However, only 6 Senators even showed up to vote on the final bill for the $87 billion.

How can anyone respect the Republican controlled House after it decided
to permit war profiteering?

4. WTF?
Haliburton gets $28 per day per soldier to feed the troops...
My ship gets $10 per day per sailor.
Something isn't right, here.

5. Didn't you hear.. private companies are always "more efficient"
(and thus more cost effective) than government run entities. Just say it enough time - have people blink their eyes at the excesses we learn from Enron, etc. And NEVER require accounting to prove the savings. Perfect way to accelerate crony - government sponsored - capitalism.

Btw, has Haliburton become the biggest welfare-leach of them all, or what?

6. That's something I just don't get
How can it be more efficient when you have another level of people making money from it?
