BBV:Ohio Voter Verified Paper Ballot Bill
A bill was introduced in the Senate yesterday (Dec.18) by Sen. Fedor, calling for a voter verified paper ballot to be the official ballot for counting, recounting and auditing

Go here:http://www.legislature.state.oh.us/bills.cfm?ID=125_SB_167

We need to do all we can to support this bill. The Senate is not in session until after the first of the year. I propose that the first day they are all back at the Capitol we have a barrage of phone calls. Line up all your family, friends, e-mail list, internet boards, etc. If each one of us commits to getting 5 people and they commit to five, etc. we can have thousands of calls.

Merry Christmas to all

I'll be reminding all Ohio DUERS so be prepared.

People in other states - if you would like to contact your Secretary of State to advocate machines with a voter verifiable paper trail, such as the Vote-Trakker by Avante International Technology or optical-scan ballots (SAT type ballots), you can get the phone number, fax number, and email address by clicking "My State" at:

3. in some ways better than the NY bill, but lacking

a required random audit.

The NY Assembly bill 8847 (passed in the last session almost unanimously, to be reintroduced reportedly in Jan or Feb but it's not clear what the republican-dominated Senate will do) also requires voter verified paper, but the Ohio bill is much more specific about the paper trail having an official status.

On the other hand, the NY bill requires a random audit of 2 percent of voting districts.

Any idea of what the chances are of this bill going through?

On edit: For details of NY bill, see my post at bbv.org:

4. Why Wait?
There are local offices. Chances to talk to them in person, if they are in your district.

IN PERSON really helps!
