Letter from Office of the VP in Newsweek
Newsweek actually published a letter in their current issue (the one w/ Saddam on the cover) that was sent from the Office of Dick Cheney!

It pretty much slams Newsweek for casting Cheney in a negative light, warning them (very sincerely, I'm sure) that the mag is turning into a "dime-store pulp fiction novel with wacky conspiracy theories" and their journalists should turn their attention to "worthier subjects" (like AWAY from Cheney's crooked business deals.)

I suggest everyone send newsweek a letter stating their support. What fools these politicians are to invite responses on a letter page! Be the most intelligent jackass you can be, hammer the WH through the media, hammer again, hammer again...

1. we need to show the media they won't lose money backing the people
over the corporate juggernaut--the media are as dependent on consumers as any business, and they have been lured astray by the GOP dominated financial machine.

This may be the most valuable lesson we can learn from Dean's campaign--that grassroots movements can be real, and they work (unlike the phony version the Bushies are trying to concoct out of a vocal minority puffed up with big money from their crooked cronies)

I pledge to give $100 to the Democratic nominee, whoever it is. If every other Democrat did the same, we could overwhelm the Junta.

3. Heh...the last time Cheney accused someone as a "conspiracy theory nut"
that nut, John Kerry, went on to expose their dirty dealings in IranContra and Central America.

4. I saw that at the doctor's office yesterday
Started quite a discussion. Everybody ended up reading it.

For this, the least we could do is subscribe.:-)

Normally, these "cautionary letters" are sent knowing full well that the news organization wouldn't dare publish them. The intent is to get them to buckle under the pressure.

What a mistake. Such an ugly, stupid letter.

5. yeah, mistake
I'm surprised Newsweek published it because you're right I think it sent a very clear message from the office of the vp. That's why it's important for the general public to send a very clear message RIGHT BACK. If Newsweek ends up getting a ton of response labeling the letter AS a stupid, ugly, thinly veiled threat, one more victory for us!

6. Cheney is a despicable as they come
Intimidation and threats are the norm with that scum. I hope Newsweek doesn't buckle but they all seem to do so. If it was my magazine I would be tempted to delve much deeper into Cheney than anyone so far has done. I don't like being threatened at all. Even if a very subtle threat.
