This is not about general income tax revenues to the State.
Do you know how much your city or county spent in the late 90's for IT infrastructure upgrades? I'm not talking about Y2K either, unless it was seen as a necessary upgrade in addition. For example, in my little town the community college implemented a Cisco router training school. I don't know how much it cost in tax dollars to set that up, but it's gone now.
These kinds of things were implemented in anticipation of a technology economy. Just like some third world countries borrow and build infrastructures based on corporate promises, only to have the industry move off to a cheaper country still. Georgie signed an executive order totally changing U.S. business policies with India. Poppy invested mega-millions into Indian IT, as I've previously posted. (This is NOT anti 'brown people' for chrissake) How much of California's debt is specifically connected to unused IT infrastructure because this industry has gone overseas? Not the dotcom bubble or lost revenues in general. Specific to this situation. In addition, I'd be interested in any city or county stories like my community college one.
I always think I'm going to be short-winded, geesh, sorry.
