"Mis-use of Medical Technology"?
The "teaser" on NPR for this afternoon's ATC. Talking about getting ultrasounds just so you can see your yet-to-born, the "new home movie"...But, some see it as a mis-use of medical technology...
Oh, and F-cup plastic tits are NOT?

2. I think getting extra ultrasounds might have some risk
associated with it. Nothing specific, but any time you start introducing extra medical procedures, I can't help but feel like you are introducing some level of additional risk.

People need to get a grip and learn some patience BEFORE the baby arrives. They'll certainly need it afterwards.

3. Hoo-Yeah, you said it!
After the 3rd week of "night terrors" they'll be wishing they could put the little "Golden Child" back where it came from...
I know I did....

4. I've had two ultrasounds so far
(I'm six months pregnant). The first one was at about nine weeks because I was so sick I thought it might be twins--it wasn't. The second one was "routine"--I didn't ask for it, they just told me to get it. And they said they might want to do another one later, because they didn't get a great look at his brain and all of his heart.

Just sayin', most people don't get ultrasounds just because they want to know the baby's sex.

5. Many people who get ultrasounds say
they don't want to be told the baby's sex.

Anyway, ultrasounds have become standard procedure. In a way, you can compare them to colonoscopies. They do them so they can be aware of any developing problems in the baby. Sometimes they show anencephaly (a fetus developing with no brain), sometimes they show heart problems, conjoined twins, or other problems that might require specialists to be present at the time of birth. They are preventive medicine.
