When Was The Last Time You Agreed With A Republican?
On ANY issue. And I don't mean about how much you both hate Bush.

I know that I'm young (24) - but I can't imagine that though the history of the two major parties that someone can't find at least ONE issue with the other party that they agree with.

I don't agree with every stance the Democratic Party takes. But I know I don't agree with ANY stance the Republican Party takes.

How about you?

over our invasion and occupation of Iraq. It hurts to admit it, but I agreed with his article that someone posted here earlier today.

6. hmmmmmmm
Do I have to be alive when this happened? because I wasnt. If it could be when I was alive or not it would be in 1961 when Ike talked about the military industrial complex or other things Ike said. I like Ike ok but I would have gone with Adlai but Ike wasnt evil just differing but hes respectable at the least.

13. I've agreed with Ron Paul a time or two before but I don't...
...remember what the issues were, most likely something to do with the War On (Some) Drugs.

I was listening to a local talk show a few months back and heard a politician call in to the show but did not catch the name. He was talking about a proposed bill to change the way people caught with small amounts of a controlled substance are to be punished. He was talking about having the arrest handled through a drug court and not a criminal one, not branding a person for life because of the arrest, saving the taxpayers money by not jailing the person for such a petty thing, etc. I was so glad that a Democrat was going like gangbusters on the show...and then I found out it was one of the most conservative Republicans we have in this state.

The bill did pass and goes into effect September 1st.

14. Last week.
House Republicans joining with Democrats voting the FCC rules down. That was a good thing.

Looks like West Texas Republicans might de-rail redistricting in Texas - that's good. :-)

18. About a decade ago

There was a controversy going on at UMass Amherst over the statue at the main entrance to the campus being that of a minuteman brandishing a musket. A group of students complained that they didn't want "a white male with a gun" representing their university.

On the radio the next day, Rush Limbaugh opined that those students were being silly and ought to focus their energies on more important issues. In that one particular instance, I was forced to agree with the man.

30. It was pretty short
My hinder was all aglow when I stooped to get a drink of water. I had to agree with him on that. HOWEVER, we had huge shouting matches about politics. My first time to vote I did all my research and figured out who I was going to vote for. He actually gave me a list of who to vote for!!!! I'm sure you could hear the screaming where you live. :)

20. I agree with my GOP representative on the state Board of Ed ...
that science should be defended against religious wackos. When we held local meetings on the issue, she attended, at times sat next to her Democratic opponent, both before and after the primary wherein she ousted the Creo nutcase who had been the representative. I then worked for her Dem opponent in the general election campaign, but she won handily.

Oh, I once voted for Milton Marks in San Francisco, a Republican congressman, before he switched to the Demo Party. In that election, he was more liberal than his Dem opponent.

23. I agree with Trent Lott - (please read before loading your flamethrower.)
After all, wasn't it Helmet-hair who said, "You can support the troops without supporting the president."? He, of course was referring to the peacekeeping troops in Kosovo. I, however, am referring to the present situation in Iraq, and that "war on terra".

Hey, at least I can agree with his wording - not his timing.

24. I do quite often.

Though I have learned that they get really upset when I explain WHY I agree with their position. I figure it's a couple of thinks. Educated reasoning flies in the face of their contempt for liberal education. And by espousing a logical argument in favor of their opinion, I am implying that there is a possibility that our shared opinion could be wrong which is unacceptable to their simplistic, faith-based worldview.

Or it may be the guys with whom I speak, unable to follow anything remotely complex, think I am actually being a smart arse? I have to admit the wingers I encounter are typically extremely stupid.

The two are frequently not the same.

That having been said, I agreed with Bob Barr's (ugh) actions with respect to personal privacy, although I questioned motives and his agenda. Note that he's no longer a member of Congress. Guess it doesn't pay Republicans to buck the system.

27. Pat Buchanan
Pat Buchanan often says something I agree with, for example his position against this war. Scares me that I am on the same page as he is on many things, but then sure enough he will go and say something incredibly ridiculous, insensitive and bigoted and remind me again he really is a puke.
