Say what you will about Saddam but the man......
had a few books of poetry with him while he was stuck in that little rathole. I kinda have to admire that one. Begrudgingly.

Bush don't even read newspapers.

1. Its well-known that Bush is an idiot.
The fact that Saddam is a great deal more intelligent, does NOT make him a better person.

2. poetry to Saddam Hussein was a bloody weapon, that's all.
It certainly wasn't art, except for the glorification of himself as latter-day Arab hero. I don't doubt that he had an "intellectual streak," as most people from his background do. (Leader of small political sect that claws its way to power.) But, despite the words of comradeship and solidarity, in reality he was the killer of Arabs, the greatest agent of strife of the Arab people. Some nationalism!

5. Thought you were going to say "style"
after seeing the insides of his and his sons' temples...that definitely isn't it.

That's cool that he was into poetry. Hard to believe that someone like that could be so whacked (allegedly).

8. Why would Bush*
ever read a newspaper? They make up all the news themselves anyway. My contempt for the man knows no bounds but I would guess we are all in agreement on that one.

9. Murderers can be cultured.
Edited on Wed Dec-17-03 06:32 PM by Cleita
Bush thinks culture comes in a cup of yogurt. That's just the difference. Japanese Samurai warlords, wrote poetry, contemplated sunsets and were patrons of letters and the arts. They did all these things after beheading prole's for not showing them respect, ordering underlings to disembowel themselves and doing some pretty scary things to make everyone fear them.

10. He was probably tearing out the pages
and using them for toilet paper. I hear there's a shortage.

(Please, no lectures on Islamic sanitary practices. The opportunity was just too good to pass up.)
