Chatting with a Conservative
I was uptown yesterday talking to a fellow citizen. I told him I had written our congressman about the Plame outing story and wanted some action taken against whomever in the White House did it. My fellow citizen thought that is a terrible idea that I write our congressman about that and he said he would write him to balance my inquiry. I asked him if he meant he would tell our congressman that the White House should be encouraged to hide a federal criminal and do everything it can to keep the truth from the american people. I got no audible reply, just the typical, "I'm a real dumbass but have to work hard to hide it" look from him, and the conversation quickly ended. And my neighbors wonder why I proclaim myself a proud liberal democrat. I'm a 50 year old white male military retiree. I guess that should make me a lunatic conservative.

1. You forgot "southern" 50 yr old wh/ml/military retiree.
Looney!

The hypocricy with these Bush supporters is un-frickin-believable. Every time I bring up a story from this administration that has "scandal" or "illegal" all over it, they find some way to justify it. Bush is a good Christian, he's doing what's right for America. BWWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Even my ex-republican old Dad (who hated Clinton) say's his impeachment was peanuts compared to what these criminals are doing today.

2. Yeah, I get that crap at my school all the time.
Some of the kids are just so dumb. But to be a right-winger you have to still be a little kid inside. :kick:

3. Bosshog You Are In Good Company.
Ex Military As Well.

Hold Your Head High.

I do not tolerate republican criticism well.

When they give me any flack, I pull out my military service record and ask why they did not volunteer.

This usually ends their babbling very quickly.

5. Its enough to make you give up on the human race.
I bike with right wingers all the time..I just listen. They are impossible to talk to. The bottom line if you listen hard enough is racism. Most times I do not choose to debate them. They just brand you anti-American and a do-gooder.
Really, much of their motivation is just ignorance. They hear about Haliburton, they just dismiss it and blame it on the liberal press.Talk about the Iraq war and they have no interest in our past funding of the militant religious fanatics in Afghanistan. Don't really care.. Just more non-Christain heathens that threaten the U.S. When you do tell of our supplying Hussein with weapons of mass destruction, the effect of what we did is unimportant. It is geo-political and Iran was then our enemy. No sense of history.
The American media is so awful, I just feel getting vital information to them is impossible. Not sure they care to spend the time anyway. Staying informed is much easier when you just listen to O"Reily.
The only way to change this country is to activate the uninvolved who are being screwed. Or else an economic crash will bring about another new deal.
Funny thing.. They blame the liberals for the loss of American jobs to other countries and are against bad trade deals. Hopeless.
Does anyone think you can influence right wingers.
What we do in our hopes of changing the country is subscribe to the "Nation" for our local library in hopes someone might read it.
If we inherited a billion dollars, we would change this country. What I would do..Subscribe every American to the Nation for two years as a Christmas gift... Then the right wingers would put it in the bottom of a bird cage over challenge their ideas.
