Tweety's Latest Ratings - Still a Bottom Feeder
"For the---------FIFTY---------people who watch this show..." (--Darrell HAMMOND "doing" Tweety)

If the wingnuts with disposable income and time were watching, he would be huge. They're watching Faux. No matter how much he kowtows to them, they don't like, nay TRUST, him. It just might be that most of his viewers are us self-flagellating Libs.

Tweety, what's Shep SMITH got----ehhh?

1. They all want to be Fox news
Edited on Wed Dec-17-03 08:59 AM by mmonk
They think that being a copy cat will boost them, so the recent turn to the right. I think they could make enroads by being an alternative. Many of us are starved for real news, not the party line of the republican party.

2. They might as well hire
Eric Alterman for MSNBC. He asked the pres of NBC if he could have a show since they were cancelling Buchanan & Press. Alterman even told him that he would do it "on the cheap", almost pro-bono.

3. It's a shame
That Olbermann doesn't get better ratings. He's got a good show going, very fair and balanced. :D

8. Yep, But Shep Is AILES's Pet
Shep the vehicular menace has been with Faux since the Creation, has free rein, can do no wrong. What was his Freudian slip on-air, "blow job"?

5. They're are on the bottom trying to play copy cat
Edited on Wed Dec-17-03 09:47 AM by Mountainman
Why don't they try to be liberal and see if their ratings go up. They could have as guests lots of stars like Madona and Sher in stead of Anthrax Coulter. What have they got to lose? Now they are all trying for the wingnut half of the country. No one wants to make a show that we will watch.

7. Ratings don't mean much...
My Premise:

Ratings don't mean much for cable news.

Why?

Corporate advertisers are VERY willing to advertise on certain shows, despite ratings, if they espouse a viewpoint that is favorable for the corporate advertiser. As long as Matthews espouses the point of view of the Establishment, he will attract advertisers and their money for MSNBC. As long as he sells out like this, he won't have to worry about his show being canned.

Proof:

How else does one explain MSNBC carrying his pitiful show for this many seasons with low ratings and canning Donahue's show, which had higher ratings?

.... Ailes' current deal expires in January. He inked a new contract with Rupert Murdoch's News Corp. early in the fall and is believed to have signed up for another three years.

Ailes is expected to get a bump on his reported $8.6 million pay last year. ....

"We're not programing to conservatives," Ailes told the Daily News in an interview earlier this year. "We're just not eliminating their point of view." ....

10. With these kinds of ratings, even for Faux one realizes it's all
propaganda and folks aren't buying it. The fact that they don't dump these folks and try something New, also is significant'

Media Whore Right Wing Crap.

WWE's Smackdown get higher ratings than all these shows. Smackdown is also closer to reality.

12. Tweety's influence is like Russert's...they effect the actual PRESS CORPS.
And that is why they are so dangerous. No coincidence that Tweety pumped up Dean since early summer.

13. The Daily Show is 4.22
What does that tell you?

http://www.rateitall.com/showitem.aspx?itemid=4066

More young American s get their news from Jon Stewart than anywhere else. Well, sort of. What can't be denied is that Comedy Centrals' "The Daily Show" (11 pm/ET), Stewart's nightly send-up of the news, draws an average 640,000 views among 18-to-49-year olds. That beats Fox News Channel's 527,000, CNN's 286,000, MSNCB's 162,000 and CNBC's 72,000."
