Venezuela could become another Bush target.
I read an interesting article in U.S. News and World Report(October 6, 2003). I know it's a conservative leaning rag but I did read this I did also looked into other information on Venezuela.

Hugo Chavez is fast becoming a thorn in the side of the Bush administration. Ever since he thwarted the right-wing coup attempt recently plus the economic and political instability in Venezuela and the fact that Venezuela has a large oil producing industry, don't count out the possibility that Bush could be planning an invasion of Venezuela at some point. It is also been rumored that Chavez has allegedly allowed Islamic fundamentalists to stage training camps in his country. Venezuela has one of South America's largest ethnic Arab population many of whom are Muslim. My take is Bush will use that for an excuse to invade Venezuela and take over the oil industry there. Don't be surprised, people. It may well happen.

1. But its not a holy war
so stop saying that. And its not about the oil. So stop saying that.

Its all about setting up a sphere of American influence to... wait. Shit! Nevermind! You heard nothing!!!

3. The Revolution Will Not Be Televised
is the name of a brilliant documentary film about Hugo Chavez and Venezuela.

If you get a chance, go and see it. Your eyes will be opened -- as if you were watching a preview of coming events in the US of A.

But this, too, shall pass -- and far sooner than anyone affiliated with BushCo could ever imagine.

4. What? You mean...again?
No question about it. Whether they'll risk another attempt at a coup is another matter. Pulling off an invasion would be unthinkable.

Then again, nothing's all that unthinkable with this mob. Their grubby hands were all over that last attempt.

A little Colombia slopover might do the trick...

Mmmmm, oil.

5. Actually, Venezuela has been one of their targets all along.
They tried to pull a Florida style coup against Chavez, which failed. More recently they tried to float a BS story that Harvey Bin Laden the 6'5" invisible terrorist rabbit had made the country an Al Qaeda stronghold :eyes:

I'm sure they would love to take over all of South America. One stop shopping for oil, cocaine, and cheap labor. Rename the continent Bush-Mart.

11. Chavez is against the FTAA, so he must be taken down
just like the American citizens that protest NAFTA and the FTAA - beaten in the streets. Remember, all of our frontrunners support NAFTA and FTAA.

7. It's really a shame, Venezuela has such potential
I visited it last year, it's a beautiful place. Neither Chavez, nor the right-wing front that is trying to oust him are even close to ideal solutions for the countries problems

It's too bad that political cetrism is becoming rarer and rarer in all of Latin America and corrupt, hostile, ideologues on the right and left have all the power

8. It'll never happen...not enough time
When we retake control in November it will be too late. We'll embrace Chavez and we'll trade oil for assistance in helping his people. With Castro and Chavez on our side we will once again become the bright star among the world.

9. It's already a target of Bush
Many news reports and comments over the last several years make it abundantly that Venezuela is and has already been a target of Bush's.

10. COULD become? It has been for a while but sidelinded and
under the table coo coo coo just like they are trying for Iran. Might as well get ready, they want the whole world to cowtow to them for oil, gas, food, water, etc., etc.

Will be up to China or Russia to stop them or the two combined. Bases are set up from Turkey to near China's borders and working on heading north to Russia's territory. More bases are planned.

13. Buy your gas at Citgo!
It's not as widely known as it should, but Citgo is owned by Venezuela's state oil company, PdVSA. After the failed coup attempt against Chavez, he was able to replace the anti-Chavez people who ran PdVSA with people who supported him. Citgo USA's current president was appointed by Chavez. Money made by PdVSA and its subsidiaries like Citgo go to Venezuela and help stabilize the situation there, which makes right-wing opposition to Chavez less likely to succeed.

By comparison, all of the U.S. owned oil companies donate big money to the Republican party.

Chavez is a big thorn in the side of the Bush regime. I'm sure if Shrub wasn't so preoccupied in the Middle East, he would have Venezuela near the top of his hit list. Making Citgo your filler-up location of choice strikes a double blow against Bush, by supporting democracy in Venezuela and by withholding your business from other oil companies which fund the Republican party.

Just a friendly consumer suggestion :)
