How many of you think that Wesley Clark is being set up?
I don't feel very good about the circumstances under which he is going to testify against Milosevic. Something tells me that he is either going to be "Wellstoned," or, something damaging is going to come out of the proceedings -- despite all the secrecy.

1. Not Me
Rove doesn't want to fornicate with the General. I believe bush and cohorts are erring in not making his testimony public. Just another error by this bunch of adults. Just like thinking that Ambassador Wilson is just going to disappear.

10. Yes...I think that's more likely.
Putting candidates on ignore at a crucial time has been SOP for the media.

We never heard Kerry's speech at the VFW convention in the summer because he got more applause than Condi or Rumsfeld. But, hey...didja hear Joan Jett is for Howard Dean?

3. Not sure
The white house will be editing the tapes, and Milosevic said some crazy stuff today. If Paula von Zahn is part of the crew to have a say in what is shown to the public, then it could be a set up. Judy Woodruff etal would just flush the entire tape rather than say the dreaded name.

Resistance is futile....rove must be obeyed.

How does it feel to live in the most propagandized country in the world?

4. The WH can edit the tapes but they can't edit the General
Let the lizard king make a mistake, let the little moron piss off the general and we will have another need for secrecy and lies from this WH.

7. From what I understand
from a Clark supporter who spoke to the General and posed this question to him. "Is the secrecy surrounding your testimony at the Hague in the War Crimes case against Miloschevic a political ploy by the current administration to silence you and to down-play your part in bringing this man to justice because you are running against the president in 2004, or is there a true matter of national security that requires your testimony to be in private without the cameras there to record the moment for history?" The General answered that it is absolutely NOT a political ploy by the administration. He said his testifying had taken two years to work out all the details, and that it was imperative that his testimony be given in private.

9. Still does'nt make sense though
Madeline Albright's testimony was public, and I'm sure the former Sec. of State knows as much sensitive info as Clark.

16. I wonder if he would answer the same way in private.
It still seems odd to me.

8. Nah, they're not that complex. Never have been. They're scared.
They're scared to let him display his talents and experience. So they just dropped the veil on the whole thing.

Chimp scared of Calrk=Clark can win=Calrk's my guy. How obvious does it need to be for folks to wake up.

12. They're sure trying
First by "redacting" him - then even Clark called it "an amazing coincidence" that Saddam was captured while Clark was testifying against another brutal dictator (who was taken down WITH international cooperation and NOT ONE American life lost.)

They got him off the front pages and any unsettling comparisons as well --- for a while.

13. I don't think he's being set up
I think they're pretty confident that Dean has the nomination wrapped up. I think he will be in real danger if it begins to look like he might get the nomination. If that happens I hope he really takes his security seriously. Right now I think they're confident in the ignore strategy.

15. not at all
I do think there is a risk of assassination but only if he attracts more poll numbers than he has so far.

Right now, he is just being ignored by the media. After all, here we have a real hero, who caught a real war criminal, and is not afraid to have the evidence put in front of an INTERNATIONAL world court for the world to judge....

Makes the current leadership look pretty shaky by comparison.

And Fox News can't have that, can they?

17. Hmmm. I wonder if Clark agreed that the testimony should be private
to stop cleverly cut bits and pieces from being released.
