The car stickers, mugs and t-shirts are on sale. The campaign team is up and running. You can even sign the petition urging him to stand. Yes, the campaign to take Tony Blair from Downing Street to Washington, ousting his pal George Bush along the way, has begun

The website he has set up to promote the man he describes as "leader of the English-speaking world" carries a selection of speeches and articles hailing Mr Blair. And the t-shirts and stickers are as genuine as Mr Bursch's respect for the prime minister.

Mr Bursch, who lives in Los Angeles, says he was inspired to set up the campaign after the joint press conference between Mr Blair and President Bush at Camp David on 27 March, a few days into the Iraq war.

"I was persuaded to support the war in Iraq by Tony Blair, and I found myself preferring his articulate leadership to President Bush's, well...let's just say inarticulateness," he said.

3. article bases its argument on temporal data

The article compares the political fallout on Blair and bush. Referring to *'s supposed "popularity," it says:

But they are still higher than the Democrats'.

But just barely. I believe I read they are now within a point or two of "unnamed Democrat."

4. A point or two is still higher

And there is no doubt in my mind that the lead that $hrubya has in the polls is not deserved. Nonetheless it is a slender lead and the US media is not as thirsty for executive blood as their UK counterparts.

Mind you, the hope should still be that the lead $hrubya holds can be extinguished and if we keep working at it then maybe his rotten presidency can be extinghuished with it!

One can only hope.
