1. I can't figure out
what the fu(k he's waiting for. That announcement is going to throw the WH into complete panic. Smirk might even cancel his month vacation.

3. So much talk about Wesley Clark, and yet....
I have no idea where he stands on the issues. I would particularly like to know what his trade policy is. Is there a site that summarizes his probable platform?

8. Exactly
Sad that some DUers have bought into the lie that Republicans have some kind of advantage on defense, so a military man would somehow give us electability.

Please.

12. Cut it out. We haven't bought into anything. 70% of our fellow
Americans have. :eyes:

27. So you're telling me that...
...putting a military man in the White House is the only language that 70% can understand. Sorry you feel that way.

10. Here's some info.

My favorite site seems to be down at the moment, but this one's okay.

4. What if he runs as an independent?
I hope he runs as a Dem...but he just might run as an independent.

5. Nope, he wouldn't run as an independent
He's already said that a 3rd party candidate has no chance of winning right now, and he's 100% correct.

13. He said in March (or was it Feb?) on MTP that he wouldn't
run as an independent because we have a two party system. He doesn't feel that a third party candidate would be viable. If he runs, he runs to win. Not make a point.

7. He would defeat Smirk
Edited on Sun Jul-27-03 09:46 PM by The Doctor
in a very humiliating way - he would immediately bring over scads of vets, military families, confederate flag fans, and women. That alone is enough for me.

He's also pro-choice, environmental, pro-progressive tax, anti-imperialist, patriotic, educated, brilliant, and respected.

Edit: details.

to steal the next election useless and therefore null. That does it for me.

14. I would have to agree chaska
I am well-known here at DU for being one who is very critical of Wesley Clark. But, on the issues and on his record - and unanswered questions. However, for anyone to stoop to tactics like those linked in your post is nothing less than reprehensible. We still live in a democracy (last time I checked....never can be too sure with Bush occupying the office) and supporters of General Clark have every right - and duty as supporters - to advance their cause without smear campaigns that appear to be one thing - when they are not.

I do not support General Clark, that is obvious from prior postings. But, we ALL must speak out forcefully against these kind of undemocratic, disgusting dirty tricks - no matter WHO they are directed at. Good luck in advancing the possible campaign of Clark and I honestly am repelled by what I read.

16. Make ya a deal
When the time comes, I'll agree to support your candidate should he win the primary vote, if you agree to do the same for mine.

I'm promoting Clark primarily, but my secodary message is unity. We'll need it to defeat the great Satan of Pennsylvania ave.

19. In a New York Minute !!
No question about unity after the convention. If it's Wesley Clark at the top - or on the ticket? I will vote for the Democratic ticket. NO other option - at all.

11. I really think he's gonna do it. He was very coy on Buch and Press..
last week. Bill said thst two big time dem backers are behind him. Because of the mismanagement of Iraq and because bush is an overall ninny, and Cheney is a corrupt, sadistic, evil sumbitch, I don't see how Clark can stay out. He has to weigh if he thinks the other candidates can beat bush. If he thinks that the answer is no, he's gotta run.

Oh, what a party we'll have on that day when he announces.

17. It seems...
it would be prudent to announce prior to the primary debates which begin this fall so he may participate.

I wonder how 'soon' he would need to announce to be eligible for participation in those debates?

24. Hmmmm....how about mid-August?
Thus, the chance of extra free coverage during the Washington press "August doldrums", and before September comes with explosive investigations and 24hr cable tv contest to guess who will be the next resignation or indictment!

20. Make my day
Make my year. Make me enthusiastic about this race.

I've read a lot about him and like what I've seen. I've signed up for the Meet Up and hope we have something to meet up about by August 4.

I will support any Dem candidate in 2004, but Clark is my #1 choice as it stands.

21. It would be interesting if he ran as a moderate republican...
and caused a huge uproar and chaos on the right. Any way you slice it he would be a factor in the race.

22. Interesting
but not likely. He's far to progressive on social issues to run as a Republican. The base would not take kindly to his pro-choice, pro affirmative action views.

25. If Americans believe we're in a "war" on terror, why not have a General
Leading us in it - as opposed to an AWOL, "recovering" alcholic, who, on top of having no foreign policy experience, has barely even traveled abroad??
