What will happen to your taxes under Kucinich?
What will happen to your taxes under Kucinich? For most people, they will go down. The details are found in a bill he introduced in Congress on December 8, 2003. The bill provides a refundable $1,530 Payroll Tax Credit for people who work. This tax credit is simple, targeted to relieve a high tax burden, provides a stimulus effect, and encourages work. The bill also provides a refundable $2,000 Simplified Family Credit. This simplifies the tax code by consolidating the EITC, Child Tax Credit, Additional Child Credit, and exemption for children into one Simplified Family Credit. This tax credit will provide greater transparency, extra work incentives, and a stimulus effect.

For specific charts and such showing Dennis's plan.

1. Interesting... As odd as it may sound
taxes are the least of my concerns because it's clear to me that under Kucinich our taxes would most probably go down but, more importantly, we'd finally get something for them! European-style :)

It's good to have these figures! Thanks

2. Not worried about Kucinich style taxes

because, as already mentioned, we'd get something for them. But also, Dennis plans to do some budget reorganizing (DOD cuts etc)

I definitely would not expect my taxes to go up. But I would expect to hear a lot of outrage from fearful people when they find out a whopping 10 or 15% has been transferred out of the pentagon's budget.

3. What I like best is the simplicity
Tax laws tend to get more complex. Glad to see some simplicity is being put into a bill.

5. That's like asking what will happen if the Earth was declared flat
It's an impossibility so why even waste pixels talking about it.

6. Mine would go up more than $500
Tell me again why I need to vote for a reduction in income.

8. Odds are you would save money in the long run
If you have health insurance now, once Dennis sets up a universal healthcare system you'd cross your current premiums off of your budget list.

9. How about thinking about spending
Bu$h may have cut taxes but he increased spending. Borrow and spend will not be a Kucinich plan. I hate taxes too but dam, it is the spending that causes taxes in the first place.

10. Even if mine went up $500 I would still be better off
cuz I would save that just on getting my kids to school. This year they have to walk if they live less than 2 miles from school or we need to pay for the bus. Band and other extracurricular activities are easily 300 more than in previous years. State and local taxes have gone up to compensate for the Bush's tax cut. Quite frankly, I can't afford any more tax cuts.

7. IT WILL BE GREAT!---The RICH will be taxed more fairly and take away
Edited on Sat Dec-13-03 06:06 PM by BackDoorMan
the rich's tax cuts under Bush, and their off-shore accounts should be taxed and stop the wealthy's subsidies and tax give-aways...

It will be great to have the rich and their corporations pay their fair share, which will bring in hundreds of billions of dollars in revenue for education, preserving our environment, social security and other community needed and productive programs cut by Bush, almost out of existence...

As those much needed programs were flourishing under President Clinton...until the asshole Bush's cuts (and he is still cutting) taxes for the rich and their corporations, as well as adding loopholes for the rich.

Yes, then we can go back to the wonderful democratic economy produced by the democrats...of those great, eight Clinton years...of PEACE & Prosperity.

Are you doing better than your were four years ago? Of coure not.

A republican is in office!!!
