I don't know how many of you were able to watch the Democratic Presidential Debate on Tuesday evening, but if it were not for Dennis Kucinich (and credit to Carol Moseley Braun and Al Sharpton), no real issues of the campaign would have been discussed - at least no real questions on those issues would have been asked of these three candidates. It was obvious Koppel was promoting the idea that the three candidates should just drop out of the contest. Ted Koppel started off asking about Al Gore's endorsement of Dean, hardly a campaign issue. When Koppel asked Kucinich this question, Dennis quickly put him in his place by stating how the media is trying to influence the election discourse, and therefore the election itself. I was proud of Dennis as he forcefully presented his platform in spite of off the wall questions.
Later in the debate, Koppel tried to avoid issues again by asking about polls. Dennis Kucinich nailed him again with this
RealPlayer video of his reply.
Even if you don't support Kucinich for President (yet), why not let ABC know how you feel about candidates being limited in what they are allowed to talk about by
signing this petition. On this page, broadband and mp3 versions of the above video are also available.
Dennis Kucinich is showing his leadership ability by his forceful answers, in spite of attempted media intimidation, and his blunt discussion of issues that the others just discuss in the most general words.
