I took the day off so that I could show her enterage around the town, taking care of their needs for office supplies and cheap jeans.
It was one of the greatest experiences of this political season. This campaign is about changing the political process at its roots. This campaign is about shifting the power back to the people. Giving the people a voice again. It is Dean supporters who have been able to give Dean a lead in Iowa despite being outspent 2-1 by Gephardt. It is our letters.
Teachout has been traveling the country for 50 days, meeting people in places like Lubbock, TX (possibly the most conservative county in the country). They're amazed at the enthusiasm and creativity of Dean supporters all over the country.
A lot of the discussion that takes place here is valuable, and it's important that we discuss both our differences and the differences in the people we support. But none of what happens here means anything at all with respect to changing the way politics works in our society.
I ask all Dean supporters right now to pledge that for every hour you spend posting here, you give two hours to writing letters to undecided Iowans, New Hampshirites, and South Carolinians (
http://www.scvolunteersfordean.com/), canvassing your neighborhoods, planning and hosting a new years party, and organizing with other Dean volunteers to GOTV.
There have never been this many people this involved this early. Let's continue this trend and fight to end the primary season as early as possible.
