Are Republicans over-confident ?
Do they think they have the election already won? Isn't that a dangerous attitude in politics, as it is in sports and life in general? They don't really care which Democrat wins. They will use the same strategy they always use to minimize and, if possible, assassinate their character. They will call them "liars" and "leftists" and "liberals" and "socialists" or whatever they can get away with. They will do the same whether it is Dean or Kerry or Clark or whomever.

That is why it is important to get out the vote. It is important to form coalitions, such as the Green Party or whomever else supports the democratic idea of government. And it is important to answer their charges tit-for-tat. The "warroom" was an important aspect of the first Clinton victory. We can be the underdog and still be confident that we can take the next election. Confident, but not over-confident.

1. If you had the voting machines fixed for your party
You'd be too.

6. Thank the Lord for Bev Harris, Dennis Kucinich and
everybody else who helped make this a public issue. Since we know about it, we can fight it!

3. Yes, they are very overconfident.
They start declaring victory right away. Weak-minded people are impressed by that.

4. that is our greatest hope
the party is not and they are balls to the wall trying to rile up the rank and file as a result of this.

it is absolutely imperative that we outperform them in this area because we can and if we only match them we will fail.

5. GOTV is key, hard work and good posistions
Confidence is key. The candidate and party that believe that they are going to win, usually do win. Interesting political races involve two (or more) candidates that believe they are going to win.
It is always dangerous to think that the race is already won, but I opine that the GOP has just the right amount of confidence.

7. Not over confident
They know how to play dirty. Just take a look at some of the Dean vs. Clark threads here. All of the talking points were initially begun through republican operatives. Yet, here they are showing up here. We really need to get smart in a hurry. We're going to have to be united in the general election. We're going to have to come up with ways to convince and show voters what this admin is doing to our country and why they need to leave office.

8. yes. Very
Much can happen between now and November '04.
It would take something like this war further spinning out of control and Bush would be in a very difficult position
