I hereby nominate "He's unelectable" as most idiotic meme
of this coming presidential election. I encourage the Board to approve so that it can take it's rightful place in the annals of other great horseshit political memes of times past, like:

"He can attack in 45 minutes."

"You're with us or you're against us."

"plausible deniability"

"coalition"

"pro abortion"

"war on terra"

....and last but not least, my personal favorite,...

"It's not about sex. It's about perjury and lying under oath."

5. Agreed! That one's getting on my nerves too
But I chose to use it in this case, so the folks who can't use any other word for it would understand the post.

22. Hear hear! The most utterly pretentious word in the English language.
And it is spreading here like pinkeye.

9. Agreed, although.. concerning Kucinich..
When it was Kucinich that was being bombarded with this meme anytime there was an attempt at discussion of policy differences between he and Dean?

10. Always
It's fine to use a "meme" against somebody else, not fine when it's against your candidate (Dean). Maybe I should try to start a rumor that Dean is aloof.

12. Your reading skills need work. Please read the topic post again.
And while you're there, cite any place that I single out any candidate as exempt from the "unelectable" crap.

I'll wait. Or, I accept your apology in advance.

16. bla bla bla
People have been hammering away at Kucinch as unelectable for months. Now that it's aimed at Dean, it's wrong. I've seen this shit for too long to not call it what it is. Whatever Deanie's do to somebody else is fine, when it's done to them it's a travesty. The only ones who need to look in the mirror and apologize are Dean people.

19. Reality check for you. Ready?
1. I have not called any candidate "unelectable". None of them.

2. I am a Dean supporter.

3. I do not speak for other Dean supporters.

Now reconcile facts 1 through 3. In doing the rhetorical math, you will come to the conclusion that your insinuation "Dean supporters" (which would logically include me) have been "hammering away at Kucinich as unelectable" falls flat on it's face.

Once again, I accept your apology in advance.

13. No, what's idiotic is another rehash of the Mondale&Dukakis campaigns
No body ever wins at the national level by saying they're raising taxes or by being perceived as soft on defense.

15. I'll see you with: "The only major candidate who opposes war"
and "Is it over already?" and
"Why are the other candidates hanging around?"
and "The only candidate with a grassroots movement"
and "Clark was a GOP-er until 5 days ago - but I'd like him as my VP"
and: "Don't attack my boy - shut up and let him attack you"

18. That was "opposed". And he was.
When Dean made that statement he was indeed the only major candidate to oppose the Iraq war. Dennis Kucinich had not yet declared.

Accuracy. It's not just for me anymore.
