Poll question: If Dean doesn't win the nomination, does Gore get a Convention speech?
Edited on Thu Dec-11-03 12:06 AM by TrueAmerican
If Dean doesn't win the nomination, should Al Gore get to speak at the Democratic Convention?

9. yes, let us project an image that the Democratic Party .....
is so petty that they ban the winner of the popular vote from the previous election from the next convention.

I can see the Republicans laughing about this one, and boy wouldn't the Media eat it up....yum yum.

Luckily, Dean will win the nomination, so maybe Gore can give the nominating speech.

2. Yes, hell yes.
I'm pissed at Gore, but this is all still within the family. I so wanna see Clark kick Dean's ass just to wipe that smug, patronizing, didactic grimace off Gore's politically inept mug.

But he is the guy the country elected him president. He morally is the president in my heart. He deserves equal billing with Clinton and Carter. I'd like to see the three of them do the Three Amigos slap-slap-grab-grab-pelvicthrust number up on stage next summer. It certainly would be more entertaining than that damned kiss.

But now I'm off topic. My answer is yes. Let the bastard speak. He's still our nominal leader until Boston.

4. Sorry. Gore said he was uniting. But he was really dividing..
and took a shot at the Clintons in the process. He has offended too many. Not as much with his actions. But with his words. Even if he had insisted on endorsing Dean, he didn't have to do it in a way that offended so many people.

13. How were his words "offensive"?
I have read, and heard, that speech about a dozen times. There is nothing in there that anyone who has every endorsed a candidate has not said. The only thing I think that has offended you is the fact that he endorsed Dean and not Clark.

3. This seems strangely like...
Bush saying to anti-war countries, "Nyah nyah, now you don't get contracts." Why act like Bush?

Later.

My eyes are wide open now.

6. I can't believe some of you people
The man was elected president by the votes of the people in 2000 and just because he endorses someone other than who you support you would deny him a speaking role. I know that there are lots of anti-Dean people on DU who have gotten up in arms because Gore dared endorse Dean, but get over it. There is an election and the people will speak. You didn't see nasty threads from Dean supporters over the great endorsement Clark got from Andrew Young. If Dean were nominated should Young not have a role at the convention? To do so would be stupid and unfair.

7. No and I object to the phrasing of your poll
What will happen is the party will split.

12. DU does not reflect the nation as a whole.
This reminds me of Democrats snubbing Carter after he lost.
Pathetic.

8. yes....
It doesn't matter who wins the nomination...he should speak. So if Clark doesn't win does that mean any of his endorsements shouldn't speak. This is silly.

10. Oh boy...
Yes, let's not preserve the acrimony once the nomination has been decided (by the voters, of course). Gore is more than his single endoresement. How soon we forget...

11. A week ago, without question . . .
Today, if I were the non-Dean nominee, I would make him sweat it out before eventually giving him the time.

Fortunately he won't have to worry about it.
