John Kerry Live on C-Span1 ... NOW ...
let's find as many good ideas as we can for the democratic platform instead of focussing on the usual "my candidate's better than your candidate" nonsense ...

how about a nice positive thread for a change ... please .... pretty please .....

2. People should not underestimate the impact of the fire fighters post 9-11.
Bush can't BUY that image. They want to be there for Kerry in 2004. That image of Kerry with fire fighters in NY will be priceless.

3. I hope he talks about healthcare.
I think his idea to take all catastrophic illnesses (over 50,000.00) out of the insurance pool is outstanding. He plans to implement it in the fiirst 100 days which would reduce all our health insurance by at least 1000.00 a year. Health insurance costs are hurting the working class AND small businesses.

5. Kerry, in fact, has said he would reverse every Bush Executive Order
in his first 100 Days...and I believe him.

You know, I'm for Clark, but Kerry...still have a soft spot for Kerry ever since I saw him absolutely cow O'Reilly. He just can face down these guys beautifully. He has the credentials and the stature to be President.

You know, he had prostate cancer surgery early this year, if I recall, just as the whole primary campaign season started. You have to wonder if he got off to a bad start because of that. Plus, he was doing duty in the Senate which can't be any picnic. His energies were so divided and he was still recovering.

If only, if only....in different times, Kerry would have been a tremendous candidate....

33. Yes, but will the truth be acknowledged? Dean's made millions off his lie.
What will the media do? Admit they never did their work? That's doubtful. And Deanies here don't even care that he was deceitful in pursuit of the antiwar support.

and Dean took a clear and consistent stand against Bush's war?

38. Was it anything like what he said before he voted for the IWR?
I would have preferred that the President agree to the approach drafted by Senators Biden and Lugar because that resolution would authorize the use of force for the explicit purpose of disarming Iraq and countering the threat posed by Iraq's weapons of mass destruction.

The Biden-Lugar resolution also acknowledges the importance of the President's efforts at the United Nations. It would require the President, before exercising the authority granted in the resolution, to send a determination to Congress that the United States tried to seek a new Security Council resolution or that the threat posed by Iraq's WMD is so great he must act absent a new resolution--a power, incidentally, that the President of the United States always has.

I believe this approach would have provided greater clarity to the American people about the reason for going to war and the specific grant of authority. I think it would have been a better way to do this. But it does not change the bottom line of what we are voting for.

The administration, unwisely, in my view, rejected the Biden-Lugar approach. But, perhaps as a nod to the sponsors, it did agree to a determination requirement on the status of its efforts at the United Nations. That is now embodied in the White House text.

Or is he insisting there's only a hair of difference between the two, again?

41. But it still authorizes WAR
How can Dean be against the war from the beginning while supporting a Resolution giving the President the authority to go to war? All he had to do was exactly what Bush did. Seek a Security Council Resolution OR Determine the threat from Iraq required military action anyway. Bush did both. He met the requirements of Biden-Lugar. Dean supported it. He's lying when he says he was against the war from the beginning and everybody around here knows it.

line of what we are voting for".

Using your description, Kilbotfactory, I'd have to say, there's your "hair of difference between the two".

32. He was just great
I get so wrapped up when he's on that I don't want to miss a thing. Except I have these guys who can't seem to manage frying a taco shell so I had to cook during the Q&A. But I caught the end and he just really has such a thorough grasp of everything. It's not learned knowledge, it's knowledge gained from a lifetime of being in the trenches. Like my 17 year old says, he doesn't think he's qualified to be President, that's why he doesn't want somebody who's just like him. He wants a President we can look up to and inspires us to strive for more and be better than what we thought we could be. Exactly.
