congrats to Clarkies on winning the Rock the Vote video thingee…
Clark's ad was definitely the "hippest" out of all the candidates' submissions… and I mean that in a good way.

after all, the idea was to appeal to the MTV crowd and the style and substance of Clark's ad certainly meet that criteria.

1. Was there like an actual prize for this?
Did I miss something? Anyway, thanks. I always thought his commercial was the best of the lot, but then I am biased.

2. I dug it
I think everyone else tried to do something with hip dance music and flashing images like you'd see in a music video on MTV. Clark's was cool in that it was just him talking to a group of young people and you're like, "ok this is boring" and then he throws that Outkast shit out there. Had me in stitches. :)

5. Dean should've said something about radiohead
and Thom yorke should be his VP. I'd love to see Thom wail incessantly for an hour while Cheney tries to figure out what's going on. we'd all be so confused. it'd be marvelous

8. LOL Hail to the Thief, indeed.
I could do with more Radiohead and less Joanna on this campaign, for sure.

I think Jeff Tweedy and Wilco would be a fine "house band" for the White House...

7. Clark's ads are definitely the slickest as far as production values go…
Edited on Wed Dec-10-03 02:19 AM by pruner
but I think Dean's ads are much more effective in getting the intended message across.

9. pruner & slinkerwink
Just want to say, as a Clark supporter who thinks Dean is great, thanks for being so cool. I really dig you two. You both have always shown class. So many DUers (newer ones and old ones alike) seem to be out for blood these days. I don't see where that will get us. Thanks to all the other folks out there too, who refuse to get into the name calling and candidate bashing. You're what DU is, was, and will always be about. The rest will eventually fade into the virtual sunset...I hope.

Pruner, that thread that got locked earlier was taken so out of context. I tried to post a little blurb in your defense but it was locked while I was posting.

PEACE!

23. You are exactly right
The use of the word "thingee" was used to some how lessen what the poll was about. I have seen other posts by this person and they are very over the top and biased towards his candidate.

Good job in pointing this out to others.:yourock:

16. I don't consider myself a Clark-hater (tho many people here do)
he's my #2 and has been since entering the race.

my sig line used to have a link to Clark's site (as well as Dean's) but I got so sick & tired of the "Dean can't win… only Clark can" bullshit from a lot of the Clarkies here (they know who they are) that I now focus my efforts on promoting Dean.

I also got tired of the generic "anti-Dean" bullshit here which is why I sometimes take jabs at the other candidates and their sanctimonious followers at DU.

all that being said, I'm glad you liked the post.

:)

But Lieberman's did suck but it was funny in a way. I got a kick out of watching the "hip" ads.

20. Let me rain on this parade...

MTV award? Like who judges that? Madonna and Britanny? Michael Jackson?
Truly a measure of ....hip.

Gotta say, it always makes me nervous when military types rally up the hormonially-driven youth culture. I have to say I prefer it when they follow anti-war advocates who give them perspective about their role as pawns in the Military-Industrial's war machine to protect corporate interests.

22. Don't be a player hater
Clark is a role model,,
why wouldn't young people want to grow up to believe in performance of duty, service and accountabilty? while still questioning the powers that be.
At least instead of moaning about it , clark has actually made some differences in the world.

27. Considering I was anti-war in the 60's
while the General was voting for Nixon and signing up for 'Nam, I'd have a somewhat cynical view of what Clark is a role model for. Encouraging our young to be cannon fodder for another imperialist adventure to grab the natural resources from some country, with an ancient heritage that we've turned into a wasteland.

Yeah, that works.
