Major props to DK and JK
for forcing Koppel to focus away from the horse race questions in favor of substance!

If all the candidates would do that with all the press, we'd go a long way toward forcing them to cover issues.

TELL YOUR CANDIDATE!!!

2. Amen to that
And you noticed that after Kerry’s remarks they dropped it for the most part.
The Demos did a good job of controlling the debate And I am proud of them all for not attacking each other.

7. Why should they get away with
manipulating the discussion for sound bites that they can further manipulate?
Good for these folks for not taking it.

Question after question on polls, endorsements, fundraising, critique each other's campaigns!!! Nothing on substance, nothing on policy, its all horse race! F**K!!! Its maddening!!! And thank God Kucinich and Kerry particularly challenged his bullshit and made Koppel look SHALLOW AND UNIMPORTANT!!! Its about time.

11. Absolutely.
And Kerry's respect for Mosely-Braun was exceptional and showed the side of Kerry I like so much.

Kucinich stole the evening. Hands down.

13. Don't forget Braun not letting Koppel interrupt her
Why is it he thought he could interrupt her whenever he wanted? How come before she got a whole sentence out, he was interrupting her and putting words in her mouth? She didn't put up with it, and finally just talked right over him until he shut up.

Braun's the only one that stood up for the Constitution and the principle of Congress declaring war - a position that most independents and Republicans support as well.

15. I watched the debate twice last night
and must say that I am SO impressed with ALL of our candidates, especially Dennis and John. Dennis for sticking it to Ted (I was surprised by how lousy he was) and trying to get the debate focused on issues (what a concept!) and Kerry for not just doing the same, but for not taking the bait and attacking Dean. This is a first; gone is the "Marsha, Marsha, Marsha" Kerry of the past. Even Dean clapped and said "right on!" when Kerry defly avoided a transparent attempt by Koppel to get Kerry to go negative. Kudos to all our candidates!:kick:
