These Internecine Battles Are Going To Destroy Us
I was a Kennedy delegate in 1980 and I saw how the contest between Kennedy and Carter fractured the Democratic party and led to the landslide election of Ronald Reagan. In the 1980 election Reagan got 50% of the vote , Jimmy Carter got 41% of the vote and John Anderson got 7% of the vote many of whom were disaffected Democrats.

What unites us is greater than what divides us.

1. only "we" can destroy "us"
The "internecine battles" are under our control. They are our creation.

We can decide if we will allow ourselves to be splintered and fractured, OR if we will stand together.

The "internecine battles" have no power over us.
Only "we" have power over us.

To me, it is realizing that we actually have power over what we do and how we are is the secret to taking back our country.

2. so what are you recommending?
which candidates should give up and throw their weight behind which candidate?

something very interesting is happening in this primary process. some views, some positions, some approaches other than status quo mainstream are being put forward and are having some success. i really like that and i wouldn't change it for anything.

when it comes time to vote, i'll vote against bush (barring unforeseen circumstances). if that's not good enough for you, i would suggest that what divides us is actually greater than what unites us.

all for robust debate

"Let a thousand flowers bloom"

I'm just saying that there is a great deal of vitriol in some of these threads or as one wag said "the politics of personal destruction."

I wasn't referring to the candidates as much as their followers.

The weeding out process will occur without my prodding.

3. Democracy = Lively Debate. Republicans follow orders.
It's the basic difference between the two parties. Always has been.

5. amen...
This is how the process works if you want actual solutions. Results will come after the primary - we'll all at lest fall into the appearance of unity, or else... (but enough people know how important it is, so we shouldn't have to worry about the "or else" part).
