Buck Up, Clark Supporters
Look, momentum is a wonderful thing. We'v got it. But you guys certainly came into this with some of your own. I don't see anyone writing the Clark campaign epitaph yet.

I am as victory focused as the next guy, but I know there's such a thing as backlash/overexposure. And as many here are aptly pointing out:WE HAVEN'T HAD ONE PRIMARY YET! Just like a football game, we're up by a bunch. The wind is with us , and no one is dropping any passes. But the idea is to win some primaries now. Certainly we can't expect that one endorsement , key though it may be, is going to cinch this for us.

Conversely, you naysayers either weren't around or just flat not paying attention to the Clinton campaign in '92. All the doom and gloomers thought we needed a stronger candidate who was "electable" then too. The same things I hear about Howard Dean today were said about Bill Clinton then.

This is still up to the people. Stop posting on your computers and take a few hours to go amongst them. Better yet, go to a Meetup and observe what it is that is creating this groundswell of support and funding. You might be surprised.

In the meantime, it's obviously crunch time,so if you believe in your guy, send money ,and stop wasting time at DU! Get your asses onto the front lines and go to New Hampshire or NC.

If you believe you can do this, don't stop now. Get on with it.

2. Man (or woman) up! Follow General Clark's example.
"Although painfully wounded in the initial volley, Captain Clark immediately
directed his men on a counter-assault of the enemy positions. With complete
disregard for his personal safety, Captain Clark remained with his unit until
the reactionary force arrived and the situation was well in hand. "
http://www.clark04.com/records/

We took a mighty hit today with Gore's endorsement, but what do you think
General Clark wants us to do? Every minute we complain about this
endorsement is a minute wasted. . .we have work to do!

I know some of you get tired of my sports quotes but I will never forget the
words of my high school football coach as we were losing at halftime of the
first game of my senior year.

"We can sit in hear put our tail between our legs and cry or we can go out
there and kick some ass."

We won that game and ended up 12-1, won the conference and made it to the
state semi-finals.

3. absolutely - redouble the effort
Clark was great with Tweety... and tomorrow is another debate. The Gore endorsement is going to make people take a hard look at Dean - but if they feel (as many clark supporters did *before* Clark got into the race) that Dean's not the answer, then we need to make the case that the General is the right alternative.

Clark is an amazing spokesman in that regard - help him make the case. If you didnt want Dean before, redouble the effort. Maybe now, with some dem leaders calling for a culling of the candidates, we'll be able to start picking up the broad support for our guy that we know is out there.

7. Nicely said
The odds of me going to New Hampshire (or anywhere east of the Dakotas) are slim, but thanks for the reminder to spread the word.

Let me also go on record: I think Dean is completely electable. I have no doubt about it.

10. I was doing it tonight--
Holding up a Clark sign outside the "Hardball" venue before the show started, then watching the show with other Clark supporters at a nearby bar. I'm also hoping to get up to NH one of these weekends.

11. Thanks, a very Democratic post
for a few moments I thought it was over, but it's not. Dean supporters you should glory in this moment. Dean just got the endorsement of the politician I most admire. Thanks, C. Sunshine! It's not over. Let the votes be counted and then we'll decide. And, yeah, I'm out to work.

In a few months, I'll see you on the precincts. It's my goal. A unified base so we can work to win.

13. You earn your nick w/ that post!
Seriously!

And to Clark supporters, this should be a celebratory day for you!

Dean's fortune today will encourage some campaign financiers to donate less due to idealism and more due to pragmatism. We will now start to see people lining up behind Dean, and behind the anti-Dean, whomever that should be.

My observation is that the anti-Dean candidate will be either Clark or Edwards. We'll know for sure after Feb 3rd, perhaps even after New Hampshire, if we can read momentum well enough.

I'm rooting for Clark. :)
