Does anyone realize how important Rush Limbaugh being a junkie is?
I went to the local watering hole in town to drink some suds and shoot some pool today, as I may do once a month or so. A group of us guys started talking politics as we normally do and the subject of Bill Clinton came up. The wingers favorite subject when they are losing an arguement. After the fellow finished his speal, I looked up from the pool table after taking a shot and said to the guy, "you know, I heard that junkie Rush Limbaugh say the same exact thing on the radio last week?" And then began looking for another shot. The guy just turned and walked over to the juke box and played some tunes. Listening to Alice in Chains, Down In A Hole, was a lot more fun than listening to some knucklehead rag on Bill Clinton while I was trying to enjoy myself.

Any spelling or other general screwups in this post can be attributed to the Corona Extras. I think the slice of lime in them makes me a bit dizzy? My apologies.

Don

2. i agree and nice work
I spoke with a dittohead I knew back in HS, and this kid was trying to convince me Saddam was responsible for 9/11. the propaganda Rush instills must be ended, or at least returned to the overtly racist fringe.

5. All that crap about Democrats was lies from a junkie
"You know, I heard that junkie Rush Limbaugh say the same exact thing on the radio last week?"

I will use that in response every time someone brings up some drug-addled nonsense about liberals. Every time, it's genius. Thank you.

14. Have you ever tried to 'communicate' with a wingnut?
BWAHAHAHAHA! You can't. Personally, I'd rather use that awesome line than have some enraged, ditto-monkey in my face showering me with hatred and spittle. A couple of times of that is quite enough, thank you.

10. I heard a RWer talking today about the black QB dissed by Jeff Christy
I think in his last game, he rushed like 150 yards and passed 179. He rushed more than the combined rushing offense of the opposition.

He said something about Jeff Christy letting the pills get to his head.

19. ESPN.com put up a list of "Thanksgiving Turkeys" for 2003
including rock star Jon Bon Jovi for owning the Philadelphia Soul arena football team. They suggested that the uniforms would probably feature sparking Spandex, and that the team's name should be "Philadelphia (Sold My) Soul."

I wrote, "I have two words for ESPN: RUSH LIMBAUGH! Where do they get off accusing someone of selling his soul? That's like Hugh Hefner calling someone a pimp!"

rocknation (a Jersey Girl)

P.S. Did you hear that Jimmy Johnson said that all of Donovan McNabb's critics are now "either in hiding or in rehab"?

Had a conversation with a Rush fan this weekend

He was out of ammo - nothing he could really say. He tried to say that it was rumours, but then why did Rush check into rehab?

26. I think we always have to be careful ....
about taking such joy in the foibles of our opponents. No doubt, some hero of ours will one day be exposed as addicted to some substance. And when that happens, we'll bemoan the the joy the freepers take in it.

We can argue against Rush easily. His lies are so transparent, anybody who really wants to learn something can be shown that to be so. Dismissing him automatically as "just a junkie" is too easy.

I think we SHOULD laugh at his hypocrisy, and point that out often. But we shouldn't use the "junkie" argument on all his positions.

However, I really REALLY understand the temptation ;)

29. Dookus
Do you honestly think if we are easy on Rush that the Republicans will ignore, or even slack off a bit for the next Dem foible, which is sure to come? We had better take what we can get, when we can get it. There is no Mr. Niceguy in this politics stuff I am afraid. I agree it would be nice if it were different, but unfortunately it never will be. Take care.

Don

30. Nope...
I don't believe that. I don't believe the right will ever get nicer because we are nicer. But that's irrelevant. We should be nicer because it's the right thing to do.

Further, I'm not saying we should "be nice" just because it's right. We shouldn't use the junkie argument simply because it's bad logic. We need to address the arguments, not the people. And Rush's arguments are easily refuted.
