Guess who's critical of the war in Iraq?
That Left-wing commie Newt Gingrich

http://biz.yahoo.com/prnews/031207/nysu011a_1.html

<snip>
NEW YORK, Dec. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- In an exclusive interview with Newsweek, former House speaker Newt Gingrich, a quiet confidant of Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld, says the U.S. went "off a cliff in Iraq." In the December 15 issue (on newsstands Monday, Dec. 8), Gingrich talks about the shortcomings of the Bush administration's policy in Iraq, saying that "Americans can't win in Iraq. Only Iraqis can win in Iraq."

1. Kind of...
It doesn't sound like he's opposed to being in Iraq. He just wants stuff to be done a different way. But note he's not saying we should be pulling out or anything of that nature.

2. I saw Newt on Russert yesterday.
What a smug, hotheaded asshole he is. Actually thinks Gephardt has a chance at winning the nomination! Although he as smiling, he was really grumpy. As Bill Maher once said, "Newt Gingrich. Was it the name that made him mean?"

So what, he's aginst the war. Too fucking late, Newt. Where were you when the UN resolution was up for grabs?!

...of the policies he advocated.

There is no magic divide between advocating a fraudulent and illegal invasion and the negative repercussions. "Winning major combat" and "winning the peace" were nothing more than PR blurbs for the know nothings. The unsuccessful occupation follows the unjust invasion just as night follows day. Unjust invasions and cruel policies don't result in successful occupations.

No matter what political strategies are adopted now the ultimate outcome in Iraq will be hostile to American corporate and military interests. One mideast observer told me that we can expect Iraqi resentment against Americans including killings to last at least 30 years.

8. No dispute from me
...I'm just repeating what I was told from someone who has kept track of political violence in one middle eastern country (and observed some of its impact first hand) for a few years.

7. Just goes to show what kind of weasel he is
when things go badly, he bails. I don't think Newt has a shred of credibility left - I was ready to write him off after the Contract on America happened.

I'd rather have a Nixon or Pat Buchanan anytime, but its fun watching him turn on the chimp. Go Newt !!!!!! Sic em !!!!!!!!!
