Joe Klein: Clark Campaign Coming to Life!!
Finally, a mainstream reporter is taking notice of what many of us have known for weeks: General Clark's campaign is really picking up steam. In this week's Time magazine, Joe Klein's column discusses this, and even lays out a victory path for Clark. Hopefully, this will help shatter the Republican-fuelled conventional wisdom that Clark is "fading."
http://www.time.com/time/election2004/columnist/klein/article/0,18471,557028,00.html

BTW, did anyone cath this week's Capital Gang? The staunchest Republican on the panel, Kate O'Beirne, was giving heaps of praise to Dean, proclaiming him the unbeatable front-runner. Then, Rahm Emmanuel started saying that Clark was showing signs of life in New Hampshire, and that he might even come in 2nd. As Emmanuel was saying this, the camera showed Kate O'Beirne rapidly shaking her head with a look of panic on her face. The mere mention that Clark might do okay seemed to scare the crap out of her. These anti-Clark Republicans are so obvious!

1. Oh, don't say that because now every one is gonna flock and flame
because you're attacking Dean by saying that the RW is pushing Dean cuz he is who they want to run against.

Personally I don't care because KKKarl may have F-upded and Dean may beat him @ his own game. That would be worth it in the end anyway.

So they can sit back and know that the money they donated that pushed Dean ahead actually got him elected as President in 2004. Won't that be a hoot!

2. Could I recommend something?
I don't think Clark would approve of the fact that a search on his blog shows 211 entries about Howard Dean. Mostly negative. You might want to mention this. I think the bloggers should pump up Clark instead of planning attacks on Dean.

4. I agree
the Dem candidate should acknowledge that ALL their competition would be better than Bush, but that THEY would be the best!

5. Well, I just searched Dean's blog and found more of the same...
Quit being a silly baby.

You might wanna do the same and contact the Dean Campaign Blog Staff and tell them to pump up Dean instead of attacking Clark.

If I go to a KKK rally and they use the N-word and say bad things about black folk should I be suprised and go to the Grand Wizard and tell him to stop?

Give me a break, what are you 16 17 years old?

13. You are right and I apologize, but why would you come here and ask
Clark people to go and tell the supporters to stop "attacking" Dean and not even recognize that you've got to do the same thing first.

A better post would have been...

I've been to the Clark blog and I saw alot of posts attacking Dean. I think as Democrats we shouldn't do that. I've recognized that we've got the same problem over at the Dean Blog. I've already sent a note to the Dean Blogger people, why not do the same over at the Clark blog?

Don't you think that would have been a lot better?

16. I have posted that before, several times.
I have said that about all the blogs. I don't think we should attack each other. And you would be surprised at how old I am.

19. I think you'd be surprised @ how old I am...so are we 2 blue-hairs?
I'm not all the way quite but I'm gettin there...although Clairol helps alot!

You're right about the attacks...I'll post on the Clark Blog, you post on the Dean blog, and everyone else post on your candidate blogs to see if we can get some positve speech from each other instead of negative.

Deal?

15. No, you didn't.
There is virtually no Clark bashing going on at the Dean blog. You'll find a very occasional post disagreeing with another Dean supporter's suggestion for a Dean/Clark ticket... though VP suggestions don't happen very often. There's far more posts from Clark trolls who get very little notice. That's about it. I'm sure you could trawl through weeks of posts and find one or two other stray attacks on Clark, but that's all you'd find.

The Dean blog is incredibly oriented to positive action in the real world. Not to counterproductive attacks on other Dems.

8. Yea
I looked at the Clark blog this morning, too much negative flavored stuff. I will probably go back over there tonight and make some suggestions. Actually I've been away from the blog awhile, but I remember it as almost all positive stuff a while ago.

11. Thanks, and I like Clark very much.
I consider him a class act, and I don't think he would approve of this stuff either.

It is quite possible that many of these posts are NOT Clark supporters at all. If you browse the Dean blog, you will see a lot of stuff as well.

22. Absolutely AGREE 100%
Edited on Mon Dec-08-03 03:06 PM by cryingshame
People post notes about it too!

But you just can't control it and there's no way of knowing who is doing the "anti-Dean" posting anyway.... may not even be a Clark supporter but someone trying to stire things up.

You know what would be REALLY great? If we could get Dean to stop fibbing about Clark's position on the Iraq War.

I'm really rooting for Clark, just hope his late entry won't hurt him. Glad he is getting some print media attention, just wish it was more frequent.

And give Chris hell tonight Wes!!!

Wesley Clark to Speak at Transamerica Reinsurance Breakfast
Wesley K. Clark, retired four-star general and presidential candidate, will address the 16th Annual Transamerica Reinsurance Breakfast being held on Monday, October 13 in conjunction with the ACLI Annual Conference in Miami.

General Clark is one of the nation’s most highly decorated military officers. First in his class at West Point, Clark’s leadership experiences have taken him from Vietnam to Latin America and ultimately to the position of NATO’s Supreme Allied Commander, where he led a unified force to victory in Kosovo without a single Allied casualty.

Clark offers insight into current military conflicts around the world and their implications. As global markets increasingly sustain American business, international political and military strategy plays a vitally significant role. An expert on coalition building and the resolution of conflict and its after-effects, Clark presents a singularly informed and dynamic view of leadership. September 2003

12. I didn't care for this smarmy piece
Klien is a still a wh*re.

I disagree with just about everything after the 2nd paragraph. He talks about Clark bombing at a foreign policy conference. I don't think anyone else had that assessment. I watched part of that speech and the audience seemed very excited about Clark.

He slurs Clark at least 10 times (by my quick reckoning).

Other than that he states the obvious that Clark is making ground in New Hampshire.

17. Pundit prognosticators.
I guess its something in the Wasington water that makes columnists, reporters, editors, etc. want to show us all what powerful mojo they have for predicting future events, as if they were the high priests in possession of the secret calendar that tells them when the eclipse comes, so they can baffle the rest of us with their all-seeing eye.

IIRC, it was only a week or so ago (on CNN?) that Klein said that Dean had this 'locked', or a 'done deal', something to that effect. And I don't mean to single Joe out, since this phenomenon pervades his profession.

Most of us are aware of the 'miserable failure' of the press to stand up to their Constitutional obligations, a very serious offense. But the thing that irks me most is their complete absence of accountability, their almost surreal lack of responsibility. They are like Gilda Radner's SNL character, Emily Litella, except that they are never cornered into saying "Nevermind".

A thing I can be certain of is that we will never see a 'bloopers' reel of the talking heads (and text graphics) reprising the utterly clueless, vapid, baseless things they say and write, with the perpetrator in the hotseat explaining, for example, why they mistakenly indicted Richard Jewel, or declared Clinton 'toast'.

"Everybody knows they had WMD."

About Joe Klein... David Corn says it better than I ever could.
