Mickey Kaus says Sen. Tom Harkin rumored to be set to endorse Dean
Rumor of the Day: Is Iowa Sen. Tom Harkin about to endorse Howard Dean? That's what rival camps are worried about. (There's an "endorsement event" scheduled for tomorrow in New York, although Tuesday and Cedar Rapids were the suspected coordinates.) ... Harkin's Dean endorsement would presumably be a large blow to Gephardt's Iowa campaign (i.e. Gephardt's campaign), given Harkin's friendship with organized labor--and a Gephardt win in Iowa was the best hope of stopping Dean, for those who entertain such hopes. ...

1. Mickey Kaus is an idiot.
I don't know if Harkin is set to endorse Dean, but I do my best to pay as little attention to Kaus as possible. Because he is a moran.

3. Kaus is an idiot, but I think he's going to end up being right
I watched each and every one of the forums, and no candidate hit it off as well as Dean did with Harkin. Harkin had a ball during that event, and you could tell.

4. I agree Kef
I was just about to make the same point you did. I did not see all the Harkin town meetings, but I did see Dean and Gephardt. There is no question that Harkin really liked Dean's responses to questions.

2. I'm sure when the rumor's exposed one way or another
...you'll be able to verify it at any of these media outlets.

The Des Moines Register

KCCI Channel 8

WHO Channel 13

WOI TV Channel 5

Until then it's just rumor.

7. Absolutely Harkin Would Be Great
Former Illinois Senator Paul Simon endorsed Dean, by the way, and he's also extremely well respected in Iowa. But if Tom Harkin were to make that endorsement, it'd be even huger.

6. it is worth watching
but until it is made it is just a rumor. However, a Harkin endorsement would be terrific news for Dean or any candidate who gets it.
