Fear is the number one issue.
The way to win in 2004 is to make the American people afraid of another Bush term. The Dems need to suggest, in a subtle way, that Bush has made the world a more dangerous place and that we are on the edge of catastrophe if his policies continue. We should suggest that terrorism will increase, travel will be restricted, and there will be more attacks on the US, and more invasions, if Bush is re-selected. That must be done before the debates, because the few undecideds who make up their minds based on the debates will listen to the media analyses, which will say Bush won. But if we make people afraid of Bush, then the Dem will win. If not, the media, the debates, the election boxes, the electoral college, the incumbency, money, etc. all favor Bush.

3. Fear is what they are trying to use against us...
They're trying to get the American people to believe that Bush* has done a good job of protecting us against terrorism and that if elected--a Democrat would compromise our safety. We have to counter this with the facts..that Bush has not made us safer. IMO, the Bush record now is scary enough without even going into a hypothetical 2nd term. But, I think an optimistic message--this is what is going to change with our plans combined with the Bush* record thusfar should be able to win us votes. I think we should leave scaring people to them.

2. Trouble is....
.....fear is the GOP's main weapon against the Dems.

'The Democrats are soft on terrorism. Don't risk your security, vote for Bush......Blah Blah'.

Which gets us back to Clark.....

5. I'd prefer to see more like how we have a better way
ala CLinton and Carter.

you'll recall that they won and had accents.

sort of like Edwards who has a well articulated, consistant, better way that he delivers in an uplifting way with detail, passion and sincerity.

thats what I'd like to see.
