Who Would You Like to See Run in 2008?
I'd like to see Nancy Pelosi run. I'd also like to see Bernie Sanders run as a third-party candidate.

1. why would you want a third party?
Edited on Sat Jul-26-03 01:39 PM by ButterflyBlood
we don't need a spoiler.

And running Pelosi would be like the Republicans running DeLay.

I hope whoever beats Bush in 2004 runs.

12. Because he's not a Democrat
And I doubt he'd switch just to run for President. He'd probably never win the nomination.

Besides, I'd like to see more progressive third parties taking the Dems' votes. The Democrats aren't entitled to any votes. If people want peace and social justice, and the Democrats won't give it to them, then the people can (and should) for for someone else.

And the difference between the GOP running DeLay and the Democrats running Pelosi is simple: the right is wrong, and the left is right. People aren't opposed to progressive ideas. They just think they are because those ideas are demonized by those in power. Most Americans, for example, support single-payer health insurance. And most Americans support giving more money to the poor (but when it's referred to as "welfare", less support it).

If nothing else, a Pelosi candidacy would expose many more Americans to progressive ideas. Pelosi is qualified. And besides, it's about time we had a female President.

5. whoever wins in 04 will be the nominee
whoever wins in 04 will most likely be the only democratic nominee in 2008. all the democrats running plan on 2 terms not just one. and i want whoever wins in 04 to run for reelection in 08.

9. yes
joe klein talked about this. he says while hillary would like to be president, she doesn't want it enough to put up with what she will have to if she runs. she saw how nasty it was when bill clinton was president. she knows the moment she would announce she was running, the attacks will just get worse. and i agree with him. if i had to bet, i would be she will never run for president.

13. Look at how she's been slammed just for WRITING A BOOK
Imagine a presidential run. I, for one, would not be surprised at all if she doesn't run--ever.

24. wont work unless Gore lives in another state
You cant run for president and VP if you are both from the same state a rumor is and I think it could be true is that Cheney and Bush were both texas citizens when they ran or something like that I dont know.

11. Good question
Assuming Bush wins in 2004, I'd like to see one of the following:

1. Dean, if he isn't the loser in 2004 and if there's nothing from noe until 2008 that can destroy him politically.

2. Edwards, if he isn't the 2004 loser and he keeps his senate seat.

3. Pelosi, if she returns to her more liberal days.

4. McKinney.

5. Sanders.

6. Ted Kennedy, mostly as family revenge for JFK and RFK.

7. Any high-ranking secularist (Ventura?).

14. Ventura's a joke now
there's no way he'd win another election in Minnesota, trust me. He'd be so easy to tear apart nationwide.

Kennedy is way too old unfortunately.

McKinney is about as unelectable as they come. I can only imagine what type of smear campaign the GOP would try against her.

My gov.

Like he said about Saddam, we could have saved a whole lot of time, cash, and blood if we just gave him $5 billion and a big villa somewhere nice.
