Bush's soft underbelly.
In response to my thread about Bush not attending funerals, many said that Bush has a soft underbelly. To me that means that despite every thing that he has done, he still has too much of a conscience. This is why his staff tries to shield him from the consequences of his actions. But is he so oblivious to them in certain circumstances. His making fun of a woman that he put on death row, the wars, and the Patriot Act? Does Bush have a soft underbelly, conscience beneath it all?

1. Doesn't soft underbelly normally refer to the point of vulnerability?
I would think they were suggesting that Bush is vulnerable to Vets because of not attending funerals and being so insensitive to their issues.

That said, the mental image of Bush's "soft underbelly" has me running to :puke:

2. Soft underbelly....
Bush has definitely been criticised for not attending funerals for US troops. I think he was finally "pushed" into it when he attended one while visiting Britain recently. He probably didn't want to.

So why doesn't he go? Because he feels bad that he sent these beautiful, young men to their needless deaths? He doesn't like the idea of facing what he himself has caused. Or to look into the eyes of parents and siblings, and see it reinforced?

I'm going to propose my own theory and say that Bush does not care about the US troops, nor their parents. Instead, he has an aversion to funerals because it reminds him of death and dying. So once again, it's all about George.

Since when did he care about what others think?

3. His aversion to funerals probably stems from his sister Robin's

death when they were children. I wonder if he's been to a funeral since then?

5. oh give me a break
the man isn't that sophisticated.

His aversion to funerals is because he's scared to be in the presence of people who might express murderous hate toward him.

He's a coward.

4. If he had any conscience at all, he'd kill himself
and last time I checked he's still walking around, lying and smirking same as always.

The man has no conscience whatsofuckingever.

But he's a pretty good con man if people are STILL HARPING on this, they just can't BELIEVE that this harmless-seeming idiot of a guy could be so fucking nasty.

He's a good con man.
