He is the colsest thing we've got to a real representative in congress. At least he attends.
Let's make this clear; I am a dedicated, hard working Democrat spending many man hours a week trying to build our party in my area.
Yet, I refuse to support any candidate in any party who is not honest with themselves, honest with the voters, who doesn't put his country before his party and his personal interests!
What's a good Democrat? One who places America's best interests ahead of his own interests and those of his political party!

for '04--it was his decision to leave the race and what were we all to do? wait and hope he changed his mind or find someone else who was willing to do battle against Bush. Most of us decided that was the best way to proceed. For whatever reason Gore decided that Bush couldn't be beat (that is my way of looking at it anyway) so he decided not to run--my, how eight months can change things in politics.

seeming to hate him more than ever, realizing that the campaign wouldn't really be about issues but just other meaningless crap that the media loves to talk about.

But the media painted him an austere intellectual who cared more about perfecting the new ways of solar energy than he did with America. This is, of course, BS. But read "The Bush Dyslexicon" for an interesting read on how America has historically distrusted intellectuals.

12. Most people?

I don't think so. There were a lot of us who were saying his day was done. I'll never get over the stealing of the election in 2000, but Gore never fought hard enough for it, neither before Nov 2 nor afterward, in the runup to the Supreme Court decision in December. He would have been a wonderful president, would not have gleefully gone to war after Sept 11 even if those events had happened. But too many people, including his former supporters, see him as flawed and uncertain.

I don't like Al more than Dean, but I sure like him more than any of the other Dems running. (More of a personal preference on style of governing/intellect and personal likeability than a issues-based preference)

9. I stopped liking him because he wouldn't run

Unless he can convince me that he is doing something... maybe its part of some tactic to keep one person out of the Bush destruction machine.

I predict that somehow Rove will engineer two fatal cantidates to run and win as dems, then after a while, pull the skeletons out of their closets and force them to resign power to some repuke waiting in the right spot.

A man no confident enough to trust his own instincts should not be President of the United States. Al Gore submitted to the wishes of campaign advisors, and now Dubya is President. If Al Gore had been resolute in his determination to be Al Gore, he would be in the White House.
Now is the time for all good Democrats to look to the future.
.....seek candidates who will put the good of the country ahead of their own individual welfare....seek candidates whose hearts determine their actions....seek candidates who will speak the truth,
never fearing the repercussion....seek candidates whose motivation is
solely the betterment of America, and never the power and prestige of the office.....and to finally nominate a candidate who will refuse all the absurd perks of national elective office until those same perks are available to every American!

No announced candidate approaches these standards, and until one does,
we must look beyond 2004 for our solutions.
