BBV: US Representatives Recess Schedules
We updated the "House of Representatives" page to include a link to a page for the holiday recess schedule.

http://www.verifiedvoting.org/houseofreps.asp

We are hoping that folks will take thetime to visit your Congressman, and express your concerns about unverifiable electronic voting.

It will help if folks would each take a few minutes to research your Congressman's offic hours and public appearance schedule, come to our site, and submit their schedules to us. We will then update our database.

Please keep this kicked so we can get some action going on this request.

Thanks,
GregD

a sexier thread title. ;-)

:kick:

Edit: You really ought to put those Congresspeeps in either District numerical order or alphabetical order within their states.

2. Thanks Eloriel!
I didn't even notice that - somehow a "sort order" column in the database got clobbered. Better now?

3. My Congressman is holding a "town hall" meeting
He's already a cosigner on the bill, so he doesn't need convincing, but at least I'll get to thank him personally for it.

5. Just a thought...
Even though our representative is a cosponsor, I'm of the opinion that they still need to hear from people when they are home during their recess. If it gets down to a battle, and they are considering wavering for any reason, there needs to be the public pressure to keep them committed.

2 cents...

6. I completely agree
and I fully intend to thank him for his stance publicly at the meeting. It's not just for his sake, but to keep the issue in the minds of those attending.

4. Did you guys see the NY Times LTEs today in respone to Krugman?
Five BBV letters! ALL advocating paper trail.

http://www.nytimes.com/2003/12/04/opinion/L04VOTE.html

sample:

To the Editor:

Paul Krugman (column, Dec. 2) cites Diebold Inc. and its hackable, paper-record-less, touch-screen voting machines as a potential threat to the credibility of American democracy.

It may come as a surprise, but the credibility of your democracy is already being questioned in much of the rest of the world.

We've seen dubious redistricting schemes and the disenfranchisement of eligible voters.

Your democracy has already changed from a shining example to an object lesson in how quickly and easily democracy can be damaged.
