The Daily Show last night... Stewart managed to put Bush's T'giving...
... visit into perspective without bashing Bush for what many think was a decent gesture.

(Paraphrasing)
On Bush's concern for not bringing danger to the people on the ground by coming in:
"Yeah. You wouldn't want to do anything to endanger the people you have sent to WAR!"

Mo Rocca on lessons the Bush administration has learned from this successful trip:
"Planning... DO some."
"And do the planning BEFORE, not after. See, the administration did its planning for the war AFTER, whereas the trip shows that it probably would have been a good idea to plan BEFOREHAND."

As I posted yesterday, it kind of put the whole thing into perspective. Visit or not, we're still in a war where hundreds of service men and women, and thousands of Iraqis, are dying.

Watch the replay.

3. I believe it was Steve Colbert...
...not Mo Rocca.

You're right, though, it was very funny.

4. More from last night ...
poorly paraphrased I'm sure.

Commenting about how secretive the operation was to get AWOL to Baghdad. And that was for something good. Imagine if it was for something bad. We would have never found out about it.

Cheers
Drifter

7. Yes, and something about how it only proves how good they are...
...at misleading people. The clear implication was about the entire war itself.

This was another perfect way in which TDS brilliantly placed the Thanksgiving visit into its proper context, without specifically criticizing Bush's visit.

5. I was very well done
and I liked the part when he said: "see how successful the White House was at keeping the trip secret? An event that they wanted everyone to know about? Imagine how well they could keep things secret that they DON'T want people to know about! (that's the gist of it anyway.)

11. Then: "So we in the press probably shouldn't even try to find out....
...so we don't."

Spot on, Steve!

8. Even Better Yet Was This:
(paraphrase)

Bush gave up his Thanksgiving with the Bush family on the ranch.
There was Jeb trying to score a Percoset from his daughter's purse, Neil talking on about his sex romp in Hong Kong, Jenna into the
cooking sherry and then Barbara Bush yelling "Shut the fuck up."

Priceless!

9. They are
Fair and Balanced

The Daily show, (like South Park) does a good job lampooning those on both sides of the isle.

They did one of the more scathing reports on the "mission accomplished" banner as well. Attributing it to a rouge banner hanging unit in special ops.
