Eisenhower went to Korea and promised to end the conflict and was elected. (I wonder if Rove had this in mind?)
Perhaps a candidate could visit Iraq around Christmas time or Christmas day to spend a few days with the troops? Or least more time than junior did!
How could this be pulled off if the State Department wouldn't Okay the trip? It sure would up-stage junior, 'eh? Then Karl would have to do a very clever thing by sending junior back to Iraq around Easter time to spend more time than the candidate. Like maybe a week. Which we all know junior is a coward and probably wouldn't go any further than around the block from the airport.
Maybe Clark would have enough juice to pull it off, and maybe the senators, but what about Carol and Al? Could a governor swing it?
Anyway it would show a lot moxie, something that junior doesn't have.
