Clark hires former assistant fired by Republican bosses
Edited on Thu Nov-27-03 08:16 PM by Skwmom
Clark supporter feels called to duty - General made believer of wary aid

Clark asked him to come on board after learning a month ago that Massa had "involuntarily resigned" from his government job at the urging of Republican bosses. They were upset that Massa had visited Clark at a Democratic campaign event.

"They said I was a political liability and that if I liked Wes Clark so much I should go work for him," Massa said.

ON HIS INTERVIEW WITH CLARK (IN 1999):

"He had questions I didn't expect from a military man," Massa said. "He asked me if I was familiar with Greek literature, if I read Homer, what I thought about the Illiad.

"And the last 20 minutes were devoted to people questions," Massa said. "He asked me what I would do if a young soldier came to me and told me his wife had died. Or a homosexual soldier told me he was being harassed. His whole thing was treating people with dignity and respect."

18. Brains? AND humanity?
In the White House of all places?

After the last three years I am so hungry for a president whose intellect and heart are attributes that are plainly visible. I have no idea how people can look at the current resident and not feel like something big is missing.

Clark is still my number 2 choice, but he would represent such a gargantuan upgrade from what we've got in there now that it's almost funny.

3. Clark continues to impress
I keep reading things like this that just add to my respect for Gen. Clark.

I admire what Dean has done but I think IF this is the real Clark, then he may truly be a uniter, unlike the current occupant of the White House.

I don't agree with everything Gen. Clark says. I just want a President that I can respect.

4. Warning:
Tommorow, this same article will be used here on DU as 'proof Clarke is a Republican plant, see, he hires Republicans!'.

It will not be seen as a opportunity to peel moderate Republicans away from Bush, but rather as a opportunity to beat on Clarke.

13. Welp,
That's also the anti Dean MO, the anti Sharpton MO, the anti Kerry MO...

And I only defend Clarke because he's fellow 20+ year vet like myself.

14. Yeah, you're correct
I would like to hear about candidate's positions on the issues rather than small little sound bite snippets. This much ado about nothing approach to campaigning is what turns a lot of people off to the entire process. I don't like gossips, whether they're in my family, workplace, or on DU.

20. Isn't this illegal? To fire someone for supporting a candidate?
In this case, just showing up to hear a candidate speak?

Well, it's illegal to fire someone for organizing a union, too, but that never stopped them.

This dovetails with the accounts on the CCN by people who have served with Clark.
