Turks gather to condemn attacks, blame U.S. policy

By Daren Butler

ISTANBUL, Nov 22 (Reuters) - Several thousand Turks gathered in Istanbul and other cities on Saturday to condemn this week's suicide bombings, with many protesting against what they see as the root cause of the attacks -- the United States.

Police in riot gear looked on in Turkey's business capital as unions, political parties and community groups peacefully joined those affected by the blasts to share their sadness and anger at the four attacks, which killed more than 50 people.

"Curse this terrorism, it killed my friend," said retired businessman Ismail Yildirim. "The imperialist powers are behind this, they are turning the Middle East into a bloodbath. They want to drag Turkey into it but they will fail." snip

Nearby a leftist group chanted anti-American slogans, shouting: "Terrorist America get out of the Middle East."

"We know who the murderers are," said a caption on one placard, below pictures of U.S. President George W. Bush and British Prime Minister Tony Blair.

1. our troops are bogged down in Iraq and bush is smiling
Like it or not that man is right when he said we are causing it with our imperialism. The repubs dont care. As long as they are in power thats all that matters.

...the worst.)

The more the US falls on its face is nothing but good as long as the current misadministration remains in power.

No revolution will come pain free. And revolution is what we will need if this diabolical regime doesn't change its evil tune.

The more we screw up means the more irrelevant and dangerous we become in the eyes of the civilized world.

And the more that happens will slowly convince the civilized world they must act against us.

Personally, I'd rather see the idiot-vermin* out of power and a civilized human being put in so this horror doesn't come to pass. But another terror attack will push this country into martial law and the prez cancelling the elections. bush allowed the first attack to happen, so he will allow it again whenever it suits his agenda. Make no mistake about that. x(

But the way bush* is mishandling everything, the US won't remain supreme for long.

The UN sat on its ass and acted all namby-pamby regarding Iraq. Somehow, they're eventually going to get some courage and change their tune. Can't blame them, bush* treated them very badly and offensively. How would you react to such immature, vile treatment?

And how will the civilized world fight us, you ask? Not with military means, no - death would be too easy and quick. Economically, we're dead if they organize a massive boycott against us. We're dead if the oil collecting nations turn their backs on us. It woudn't take much to ruin the American empire. So the terrifying question here is, when will bushco* get reminded of this? We sure as hell are NOT a superpower when we're so dependent on the world we just happen to be sodomizing. Does the phrase "Whoops?" come to mind? :silly:

On edit: Typo, nothing more.

5. Many valid points
Your prediction of a looming economic battle is right on the money.( so to speak). Steel tariffs, EU retaliation ,a cancelled trip by the Chinese, Canada actively seeking (and getting a favorablel reaction) to expanded markets with China and India, and Oil priced in euros.I never thought that the UN(world community) would sit back and let Bush* pursue the PNAC.This revolution is quiet, but swift and punishing.
