The Cumulus radio network banned the Dixie Chicks based on a false hysteria. The CEO, Lewis Dickey, is using the excuse that his listeners were protesting their air play and that warranted their being taken off the air. When they did a tour of the US, almost all of their shows were completely sold out after the comments. It is funny how they responded to that small comment made but no response to parents groups who have a problem with some of the lyrical content of various performers who suggest things that could be considered more offensive. Now, with Iraq being a mess,no weapons of mass destruction found, the Dixie Chicks are going to have the last laugh.

1. Recently I saw a former program director

of a Cumulus owned station here in town and I asked him, "If you are a classic rock station, why don't you play Little Feat, Atlanta Rythym Section, etc.?". He said the head honchos in Atlanta wouldn't let him, that they had the infamous playlist. He also quit shortly thereafter when they converted their sports talk to right wing talk(O'Reilly, Savage, Gallagher, etc.). I admired his stand for that one and wish more radio people had enough guts to do that.
