Gregory Mankiw ~ C-SPAN
Chairman ~ Council of Economic Advisors: these are the guys supplying the Bush Admin with it's catch phrase "we've got to get the economy expanding" while providing cover for the super-rich to take their resultant tax cuts off-shore.

An economic traitor say I.

1. Mankiw is actually a pretty bright guy
I read many of his papers and textbooks in my economics classes, and he is not a wingnut by any means. He gives credit to both liberal and conservative views of economic theory and I think he just takes every scenario into consideration and acts on evidence he is given.

It could be that he is just making a poor decision if he is supporting the Bush tax cut initiatives. I'd like to hear his rationale for doing so.

2. f that was the last guy on, he's so screwed up as to be insane.
"Free trade is good for everyone in the long run."
YA GOTTA BE SHITTIN' ME!!
Tell that to the American people who lost their jobs years ago. Tell that to the farmers in Oaxaco.

Maybe 100 years is his timetable for "the long run."

3. Sure...
They're all smart enough to know better. Pixie made comment that he mentioned twice that he had one office overlooking the white house and another 1/2 a block from the white house. Sadder to think, I suppose, that is all comes down to ego, position, and access to percieved power.

But I think your use of the word: "rationale", is on the money here (no pun intended) in that Bush needs to be able to rationalize his unpalatable policies hence the employ of a good many otherwise smart people to and for that very end.

The rationalization of that what is not rational = Bush Economic Policy ~
