Disturbing US Soldier Casualty Numbers/Surpass 1st 3yrs Viet Nam!
DISTURBING CASUALTY NUMBERS: UPI reports that number of total casualties - injured and killed - has now passed 9,000. Meanwhile, Reuters reports, " The U.S. death toll in Iraq has surpassed the number of American soldiers killed during the first three years of the Vietnam War." A Reuters analysis of Defense Department statistics showed on Thursday that the Vietnam War, which the Army says officially began on Dec. 11, 1961, produced a combined 392 fatal casualties from 1962 through 1964. Since the invasion of Iraq, 419 U.S. soldiers have been killed.

1. It is so heartbreaking
I don't even know what to say. Each and every life lost; American, Italian, British, Iraqi, Vietnamese, represents a devastated family. I cannot fathom how someone could support bush and his arrogance.

"I'm the Commander, see... I do not need to explain why I say things. That's the interesting thing about being the President... don't feel like I owe anybody an explanation."

2. remember more troops
are being saved because of advances in medical procedures and those armored vests. if we had decent figures on the wounded how would the rates stack up against each other? and what would the death rate be without the protection that wasn`t avaible during nam ?
