Bush lied, people died, NO ONE CARES?
Other than us, of course.

It's definitely on the news that the Niger docs were forged and that Bush's State of the Union speech was "incorrect" (lies!lies!) but what the hell, why isn't this bigger news?

I know, there are no penises involved, no missing pregnant woman on Christmas, no dramatic twin separations, but why isn't this president held up to a higher standard, or any standard at all?

I suspect that there are a lot of people who just shrug and figure we had to go into Iraq anyway, Saddam was evil, yaddayaddayadda, so who cares if the premise was a lie.

Grrr.

2. People do care
just be patient.....I know we on DU have been discussing this for months, but general public is basically just learning the (partial) truth. Peoples pocket books are hurting and that's when they get up in arms.......

3. bush will soon find out that millions care about his lying, however
his christian conservative moral absolutist base is holding him to the very low standard they have set for him. They can rationalize that he lied to save us all from the evil Saddam so its okay. Quite an incredible juxtaposition of five years ago when "its not about sex" what a president lied about did not matter. If he lied he must go. bush's base will burn in hell for this juxtaposition. They are lying, hateful hypocrites who will suffer more than anyone else due to awols lies. IT MUST REALLY SUCK BEING A CHRISTIAN CONSERVATIVE WITH NO MORAL COMPASS AND A BROKEN RUDDER.

4. tell people about it.
I think we just have to keep reminding our friends about what is going on. WE can be the counter to the cable news constant distraction plan.

Leading Senator Reveals Cloaking Technology Used to Hide Weapns of Mass Destruction.
Sun Jul 6,11:37 PM ET

By Gabriel Loyola
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The top Republican on the Senate Armed Services Committee (news - web sites) today revleaved that cloaking technology was used to hide Iraqi weapons of mass destruction. This revealation makes it clear there is no longer any need to open another probe into alleged White Housemanipulation of intelligence to make the case for war againstIraq (news - web sites).

Virginia Sen. John Warner (news, bio, voting record) told NBC's "Meet the Press" that this new information explains the failure of our miliary forces to find the weapons after looking for them for three months.

It also explains why the Iraqi's did not use their weapons, since the cloaking devices make it impossible to use the weapons. While the technology is classified, <http://www.felixent.force9.co.uk/art19.html> sheds some light on the limitations.

6. Standard response from my conservative friends
when asked about Bush lies is, "They all lie." Seems like they don't care because the Iraq attack doesn't directly touch their lives, and they are not losing loved ones.

10. I heard this yesterday, too
"They all lie. Clinton lied, Bush lied..."

But will this affect Bush at the polls? Will conservatives get out and VOTE for a candidate that they know LIED to start a war??

9. People care, we just need to keep them informed
People are too busy surviving to keep up with the barrage of stuff being thrown at them, which I think is a deliberate tactic by BushCo -throw so many balls at them that they get confused.

I think it's also important to remember every single day, with every single "poll," that what the media is telling us what the MEDIA is telling us. The average person as little way of getting her or his message out, unless they've got lots of time to do so. So, I don't think the media necessarily is an accurate gage. Not to say they're never right, but rather I try to examine each situation carefully.

From what I hear, people DO care. We just need to keep dialoging with them to keep them informed and focused.

11. when the anti-war movement in the 60's was on
the point was no one gave up.
every lie and outrage committed by the status quo was dragged into the streets and people were forced to look at it until it slowly began to make a difference. the protestors and activists were persistant and led then the leaders followed.
we don't have a choice here -- if we want to make a change -- just keep banging away on it.
