Kobe trial will make O.J. look tame
Interesting article from MSNBC:

Kobe trial will make O.J. look tame
Thanks to Internet, sex assault case will be disgusting circus

July 23 — They better start putting up tents around the Eagle County Courthouse because the circus is coming to town. If America thought the O.J. Simpson trial was the theatre of the absurd, wait until they finish watching Kobe vs. The Cheerleader. Instead of Court TV, this mess may end up on the Spice Channel.

<snip>

They all became celebrities. The good lawyers and the bad ones. The good cops and the bad ones. Even A.C. had his moment because, after all, he had O.J. in the car. And who could forget the blonde kid Kato? We’d all like to, but he became a celebrity for a minute simply for being a lousy houseguest.

<snip>

Bryant’s dry cleaner has as much credibility as Bryant himself. The girl who sat three seats behind the alleged victim in Algebra II has as much credibility as the victim herself. If a head will talk, we will listen, because this is the kind of sick society we have become. We pay more attention to the case of a baby-faced black basketball star with a pristine reputation and a 19-year-old blonde, white cheerleader-turned-hotel concierge who alleges she was sexually assaulted after delivering a very late dinner to Bryant’s room than we do to whether or not our President juiced the info he used to start a war.

This is the country we live in. No wonder the people of Iraq would just as soon we go home.

1. If the press would accurately report on the scandals surounding Bush
They'd get way more "ratings" than this piece of infotainment. Of course their economically right-wing, big buisness advertisers might bail, then.

I don't know what is going on in that trial, and I don't really care.

2. I don't know about that.
People don't want to think bad things about Bush, or any president for that matter. It might force them to actually think and decide for themselves, and for most people, that's almost punishment. As long as the VCRs and the cable work, as long as there's beer on the shelves, most people are not just content, but thrilled to have the opportunity to, let things kind of happen.
