An admission: It's hard for me to accept the reality of the situation.
I hate thinking that Bill (and who knows how many Congressional Dems do too...) is OK with the Invasion... I HURTS me that they can whitewash the facts by spewing out specific crap and by that statement take attention from the real problems with War Crimes and INVASIONS.

I hate to think that the LIHOP theories have a sliver of truth in them...As much as I HATE bush I simply can't buy into the belief that those fuckers, as bad as they are, KNEW it would happen and LET it happen...If I did I would EXPLODE! I just can't wrap my mind around such a disgusting act! It HURTS. I can't (Won't?) do IT! Honestly? How can you "believers" keep from going ballistic????

I HATE to think that we're so completely FUCKED as we are.

Somebody, PLEASE, give me some hope that 2004 will end ALL of this SHIT!!!!!

1. 2004 WILL end this misery
And YOU will have a part in making it happen. I have faith that America will wake up and do the right thing. It will be close but we can and we will win in 2004.

4. No it won't end the misery
It will be three aspirin and a cold compress and a good nights sleep before we get up and go back to work fixing the country.

15. I hate to be an "it depends what the meaning of is is" guy but...
I said "THIS" misery, which I define as the Bush Administration. I believe we can end THAT. Now "THE" misery you are talking about, I'm not so sure can be ended so easily.

Edited on Wed Jul-23-03 09:38 PM by zidzi
"It's Always Darkest Before Dawn" and it's a Long Way to Go before Nov. 2004. Lots more shit will come down the pike. Some good and some bad. But I think it will be mostly good for us!!

Just concentrate on the good guys like Jim McDermott, Pete Stark, Jay Inslee, ..all these dudes and dudettes who have a clear vision of what if right and what is not the right thing to do! :kick:

And by God ..we'll look back on this and see who made the big errors in judgement! :kick:

5. They're able to get away with this 'shit' because...
...they KNOW most people couldn't imagine that 'they' could do such a thing. That's the diabolical beauty of it: Americans have been programmed to disbelieve anything they're told is a 'conspriracy theory'.

- We're phucked until the day we recognize that the majority should rule...not some small group of neocons who took over our government by deceit and force.

6. how can we keep from going mad? historical perspective
"How can you "believers" keep from going ballistic????"

and look i'm not the only one who sees hope...

Humpty Dumpty Will Fall
It Seems to Me Howard Zinn

August 2003 Issue

A bit of historical perspective reminds us that governments that seem to be in total control--of guns, of money, of the minds of the population--find that all their power is futile against the power of an aroused citizenry. The leaders awake one morning to see a million angry people in the streets of the capital city, and they begin packing their bags and calling for a helicopter. This is not a fantasy but history. It's the history of the Philippines, Indonesia, Russia, of East Germany, Poland, Hungary, Rumania, and other places where change looked hopeless and then it happened.

Throughout history, imperial powers, gloating over victories, become overextended and overconfident, as their citizens begin to get uneasy because their day-to-day fundamental needs are being sacrificed for military glory while their young are sent to die in wars. The uneasiness grows and grows, and the citizenry gather in resistance in larger and larger numbers, and one day the top-heavy empire falls over.

We don't expect Bush to scurry off in a helicopter. But he can lose the next election, just as he lost the last one, and this time perhaps not all the king's judges or all the king's men will be able to put Humpty Dumpty together again.

And there are already people around the country calling for his impeachment. Of course, we do not expect a craven Congress to impeach him. They were willing to impeach Nixon for breaking into a building. They will not impeach Bush for breaking into a country. They were willing to impeach Clinton because of his sexual shenanigans, but they will not impeach Bush for his pandering to the super-rich. Still, it is good to bring up impeachment, because the Constitution allows it for "high crimes and misdemeanors," and it is an opportunity to discuss the high crimes of this government.

12. Zinn is truly a treasure.
One of the few notables that I'd actually pay a huge transportation fare to meet.

I can only hope that he's right....I know he is BTW but the path is ugly at this point.

11. Totally understandable. Most people feel that way.
In fact, feelings just like yours are the reason were in this mess in the first place. People just can't wrap their heads around the evil, and it hurts too much to try. So they just choose to believe whatever they're told. You're ahead of the game, though. At least you're aware, and not just sticking your head in the sand

16. JM.....I think that you should brace yourself.......
Edited on Wed Jul-23-03 10:16 PM by DagmarK
for the possibility that your mind may indeed open up fully to what a lot of us have considered FACTS. Like maybe your subconscious already thinks all these evil things are true....that they LIHOP. Cause you are starting to sound a bit like someone about to get extremely infuriated........

Just the behavior and actions of this Administration post-9/11 is evidence enough that 9/11 was an LIHOP, quite frankly. And the reality of everything they have done to us and others in the world is really sinking in as they create more horrors on a daily basis.

I wish that you were right .....that this wasn't an LIHOP. But at this point, does it really matter if it was an LIHOP? Not to me. This administration has completely degraded the memory of 9/11.....totally. It doesn't even matter now.......It was used as IF it were an LIHOP.

How do I deal with the my belief that it was an LIHOP? I vascillate between anger and depression -- and have very few moments of joy. It sucks.....and I am not proud of how I am most assuredly *not* dealing with it.

18. Camus has ZERO to do with this!
Alright, perhaps his insight into fascism is right, blah blah blah!

We ARE living in a "Plague" however.

That said you know that his insane belief in Perseverance (in open opposition to the Absurd) is perhaps, fuck that, our ONLY escape!

But it's NOT an escape it's a BATTLE CRY!

23. Voila!
We, you and I, never sought out this insanity!

It sought US out.

Now our only duty is to solve this insane equation.

Not because we want to, but because we HAVE (OK, we could choose cowardice but "WE" are simply unable) to!

Camus rocks.
