Rush Limbaugh Discovers Humility
The fancy rehab that's teaching Rush Limbaugh how to stay clean from drugs has probably gone into overdrive trying to teach him humility. This is a man who claims to be God's instrument in the work he does on radio. It doesn't sound like he's a candidate to develop the necessary skill of right-sizing his ego.

But maybe Rush sees that his drug addiction is indeed life-threatening. It's possible he's enough of a survivor to do what needs to be done to avoid ending up like Elvis Presley. He'll have to accept that he's not special ... that he's an ordinary child of God like the rest of us.

It would be a bonus if Rush's new-found humility were to catch on among his fellow Republicans. Imagine a new, humble George Bush who admits he tricked us into the Iraq War and now wishes to make amends. Imagine Dick Cheney revealing that his energy plan was drafted by the oil industry. Imagine Donald Rumsfeld admitting that the Iraq plan is a failure.

1. Dream on
He'll go down in flames in all his pharmacological right wing glory.

I predict a relapse within a month.

The degree to which he's been besotted with hillbilly heroin is such that it would take a year of rehab and a SERIOUS life and attitude change to give him one chance in two of staying sober.

He's fucked.

4. When he came out of the drug haze, I bet he said:
"I said what?"

"I'm a Republican?"

6. Sorry, but I gave up psychoactive aids to the imagination
decades ago. I'm not sure I've ever had that intense a hallucination.

7. God Himself could visit Rush to show him the error of his ways...
And he still wouldn't gain a dram of humility.

Not in his character.

9. Celebrity Drug Addicts: Elvis and Liza
Elvis didn't look good at the end of his life. He was all bloated and he looked completely out of it. For a guy who contributed as much as he did to contemporary music, Elvis deserved better.

I'm not sure I wish Liza Minnelli well, but she's going down in a tailspin, sure 'nuff. It's difficult to watch. Perhaps she sees herself as a respectable entertainer, and she endorses Republicans. But she's disappointing her fans as she deteriorates.

13. There is little hope of full recovery for people with addictions like Rush
Liza, and Elvis. Ask Richard Pryor

11. "Rush Limbaugh" and "humility"
should go in the dictionary under "oxymoron."

12. Did Julius Streicher find humility?
Did Goebbels? Goering?

From that I postulate that Rush will most definitely NOT find humility.

At best, he will put on a Bushevik show of Lies, and then return to his hypoccritical blustery lying self.

He might STILL be calling for immediate incarceration for all "drug addicts".

HE's NOT a drug addict, you see. Prescription drugs don't count.
