Quote from Jerry Kleczka (D-WI) on BBV
A DUer that seeks to remain anonymous requested that I post the following quote from a letter written by Rep. Kleczka (D-WI) to the DUer regarding the Black Box Voting issue:

"I am unconvinced that this measure to require a printed record is necessary and have concerns that it could compromise the secrecy of a person's vote."

:-(

2. Rush Holt is a DLCer
Holt is the one who introduced the paper trail legislation.

I don't know about Kleczka, but he seems to be echoing the League of Women Voters' position.

8. He's not a DLCer, I checked the list today on another thread
I'm afraid one letter isn't going to do it. We are going to have to keep putting the evidence of flaws in front of their face to convince them there is a problem before they will consider a paper trail as a solution.

Don't give up, anonymous DUer. Keep plugging away. They have been getting fed this crap about "receipts" for years. We won't convince them otherwise in one letter. :kick:

3. You see if they give you a Record
they would have to count your vote, It's all very complicated you might not understand it all. What is important is the secrecy of the votes.

4. We have paper ballots now
These BBV boxes are moving to virtual (and unverifiable) ballots.

KEEP the paper ballots! Use the touch screens for the easier creation of the paper ballots.

6. It very well could be that the secrecy is already compromised
And a paper ballot that is (1) verified by the voter, (2) doesn't identify the voter, and then (3) is deposited in a locked ballot box does nothing to compromise vote secrecy.

This guy needs a LOT more information. Hopefully, Bev&Crew will have more out soon.
