Did You Know ?
Edited on Tue Nov-04-03 02:40 PM by stewert
Bill Clinton is the only person to ever become president without winning New Hampshire. That
means right now things look pretty good for Dean.

Arkansas Governor Bill Clinton became the first person to win the presidency without first winning
the New Hampshire primary. Clinton’s campaign ran into trouble when allegations of his frequent
and long-term marital infidelity surfaced.

He did not win New Hampshire in 1992, but he did get 2nd. Clinton finished a strong second
despite the negative media focus. He proclaimed himself the "Comeback Kid," and got a bounce
from the New Hampshire primary, after all.

1996: Bill Clinton ran virtually unopposed in the Democratic primary this year, although twenty
hopefuls officially filed to contest his candidacy. Clinton swept all of them, as well as twenty-two
Republican write-in candidates, with 83% of the vote.

Dean has a 10 point lead over Kerry in New Hampshire, and a 24 point lead over Clark.

October, 2003 -

Howard Dean - 29%
John Kerry - 19%
Wesley Clark - 5%

P.S. I support John Kerry.

4. Huh?
If Clinton didn't win NH, but won the Presidency, but dean is leading in the polls, how do things look pretty good for dean?

Bush did not win, he stole florida and the supreme court gave him the presidency.

If you notice that websites data only goes up to the 1996 election, I don't think they counted
the 2000 election in their article.

If Clinton is the only person to ever become president without winning New Hampshire,
then Dean looks pretty good. Since every other person who won New Hampshire went on
to become president, Deans lead is looking pretty good right now.

How hard is that to understand ?

P.S. It's not my theory, I just posted what I read at their website. Until the 2000 election it was
100% accurate. They stop at the 1996 election.
