Clark Would Consider Signing Landmine Treaty Ban
Clark Made Declaration At KSU Monday
Retired General Wesley Clark said while campaigning in New Hampshire Monday night that he would consider signing the International Treaty to Ban Landmines.

Clark -- who was campaigning at Keene State College -- told The Union Leader if he's elected president he'll take a look at the issue. The Democratic presidential hopeful said he's opposed to landmines in principle.

Clark also said he would closely scrutinize all federal spending -- including defense spending -- but he would "take care of the men and women in uniform, and the veterans who have sacrificed so much for our country."

Clark made the remarks at Keene State College after an Internet chat with a handful of the people who submitted 3,500 questions.

2. Please don't take this as an attack
But why wouldn't a miliary man like Clark already know enough about the issue to be able to say clearly whether or not he'd vote for such a known military topic?

4. Good question
and I don't know enough. The military might insist on him not signing it. There may be some consideration we don't know about.

9. To me it sounded like...
...He doesn't like landmines (i.e. the military aspect), but isn't sure about the specifics of the treaty itself.

3. Another wish-washy "consider" thrown out by Clark
I am starting to think this man does not have strong thoughts about any issue. Which his voting record also indicates.

To "consider" signing also means he is "considering" not signing.
I would expect that a General would have enough information on land-mines to take a stand on the issue--particularly if he is running for the Presidential Nomination.

6. Well, you also have to consider
where he is getting all of his political tutoring.

7. Who else is considering it?
Go get me that info. Like I said in a previous post, he seems to be for signing it, but there may be a reason to not sign it that we don't know. He has a reason to want to sign it that we don't know.
