The Clark Report: NYC, Kucinich, Young Professionals
Edited on Wed Oct-29-03 10:20 AM by WhoCountsTheVotes
Last night I went to the fundraiser put on by "Young Professionals for Clark". Clark was in top form, this was the best speech I have seen him give, both live and on TV. He was very relaxed and quite funny too, I suspect Al Franken has been coaching him. He didn't get into too much policy (surprise) but instead just gave a sort of friendly, personal speech about his career and the campaign. Still glad I went. The intro comic even made a joke about Clark being from the Candidate from Central Casting - it's true.

Oh, but I have to say, screw you Wes, since he listed all the candidates and said how much he liked them, then asked "Did I forget someone" - he had, Dennis Kucinich of course. The bastard!

5. Hmm, a Dean/Kerry supporter complaining about Kucinich's looks?
Do you people just cut and paste these insults from a master list or something? Here's a hint WillPitt: I wouldn't complain about Kucinich's looks if I supported a candidate that looks like Frankenstein, but hey, to each his own.

Ease up. I'm a Kucinich guy and I've always hated that pic.

19. I agree
I love Kucinich and the ad is cool but the picture is AWFUL! When he smiles he looks like a very warm, kind individual but that scowl, I don't know, I just do not like that ad. I'll second your comment about Will.

9. You poor, poor victim
It was an observation. I guess I was bashing Dennis by running a few fundraisers for him here and elsewhere.

Knee-jerk victimhood does not become you...or maybe it does.

11. please
really, please. I'm not claiming victimhood about anything - you and the rest calling Dennis ugly doesn't affect me in the slightest.

"I guess I was bashing Dennis by running a few fundraisers for him here and elsewhere."

Well, good for you!

24. Hi, Will
Some of us certainly remember your kindnesses to Dennis Kucinich. I, for one, thank you.

17. The scowl is standard, unfortunately
Kerry spends a great deal of time looking like he is suffering from some severe gastric complaint.

The event was pretty much as you described. Clark was very good and very funny. He kept it short. I heard it was his third fundraiser after campaigning in NH during the day. He was also headed to NH. I wondered about the Kucinich to. He mentioned everyone. He hasn't had trouble with Kucinich that I knew about. Maybe Kucinich said something to him in private??? hmm.

BTW, the place was jammed up. It fit 975 and it was tough to move around. It was a great event.

12. funny story I overheard there...
This was an interesting group, I'm still trying to figure out the demographics of that group. I overheard a funny conversation. An organizer was being reamed out for the bad sound system by an senior organizer. The older guy went into a hilarious "back in my day" speech about panicking during a stump speech by Mondale, 15,000 people and he starts to talk, no sound. He started his best impersonation of Dustin Hoffman in "Wag the Dog" - "This? This? This is nothing!"

I like Clark. He's down on my list, after Kucinich and Gephardt, I guess I put him at the same level as Edwards. If he can keep it up he can win the primary, and if he does Bush may as well start moving his things out of the White House. :)

18. Wait one damn minute! Hold your horses now!...
Kucinich hates Clark. And made that hatred abundantly clear when asked about Clark entering the race. I don't have exact comments but it was quite hostile and ungracious. Somebody back me up here.

So, if Clark had nice things to say about everyone but Dennis, I don't think he meant to slight him. I think it's probably because he has never had a personal conversation or relationship with him.

21. Kucinich never said he hated Clark!
Kucinich was asked if he won the nomination, would he choose Clark, since everyone else was begging Clark to be their VP. Kucinich said probably not, since he was campaigning against the "primacy of the Pentagon".

I hope no one is taking this too seriously, after all I am a big Clark fan. (I'll take Clark over Dean or Kerry anyday).

22. I am sorry if he forgot Kucinich....
I don't think he was being an asshole on
purpose. I really think he is trying to stay
positive about fellow Democrats....I think that
makes him a good team player because someone has
to win this thing, whether it is Dean, Clark, Edwards,
Kerry, or whoever....
